Thats maybe a little wide for me, but if you're up against a really big fish, then I guess you go down to those types of hands (maybe not 10-7), all you have to do is hit the flop harder than your opponent, too small kickers might get you in trouble more often though.
Don't be careful against a UTG limper (unless the play seems unusual for that specific player). If the guy plays 80/2, then you should only be careful when he raises.
Btw winning medium size pots is better than nothing, and maybe the tough spots aren't as tough as you think, they really do call down with crap. You could try posting a hand or 2 and get advice from better players than me
