I played the following hand today and lost a big pot: Its 2/5 dollars NL Holdem

Im 2 off the button, everyone folds to me, I see:
AQ off
And I bet 15. The button raises to 45 and I call. It's heads up now,
comes:

A T 7 rainbow;

I check, the button bets 60, I call,
comes:

9

I check, the guy bets 100, I go allin for a total of 300, he calls
he shows AK off, rivers a 5 and he wins the pot

Did I play it right? My read was as follows. Him raising me preflop meant either
he thought I was trying to take the pot and he raises me with nothing great, or
he has a decent hand... So it could of been both for me...

On the flop It could have been a continuation bet, and I do have top pair...
If he has a good hand he could have AK or AQ true.... maybe AJ?? well
now thinking about it I don't expect someone to raise a bet preflop like that with
AJ... he dude was a fair player at the table... so if he had a premium he could be
beating me... if he doesnt have a premium, he could have A 2, A anything
or maybe something like T J... There I would be winning. I just called

On the turn, comes a 9, and I check wanting to see if he continues his bets, and
he does. I then thought what if he has a draw now... I could go allin, and It would
force him to pay if he has a draw, and maybe if he is beating me make him fold sometimes.... That was how I played it and I might change somethings. What do you guys think?

I think you played it really bad, and that your thought process was all over the map - continuously changing your mind on villain's most likely holdings.

If you did actually have the best hand when he bet the turn then he's not calling a shove, so your raise doesn't make too much sense to me personally.

Call turn, call river if you think he's bluffing.

DK is pretty much spot on on that thought process. He ain't calling with worse.

Go to pokerstove and put in your above scenario to see how your AQ play looks %-wise. Put in some other possible hole cards against the AQ. I was surprised to learn just how shi**y AQ really is.

Yeah you got a good point... if he is winning he will call most likely, if he is not winning he will fold and I get no extra money... so raising in any situation would be bad I guess. I guess also I shouldn't worry too much about the straight draw cause the odds he is going for it is slim considering he raised preflop... And it was a strong raise, I probably should have folded... I mean three times my raise and I got an AQ, one of the cards that most makes you loose money. Its risky to call if my ace hits on the board, as it did.... Yeah If I were to play it again I would probably fold preflop, and if I didn't I just have to call all the way unless he makes an absurd bet or something...
