ALL IN?

What you think about play ALL IN before the flop even from two aces? I think that this is not poker,this is foolishness!!!

heh???? If you can't call an all in with pocket Aces then there is a wonderful game out there called go fish! I see your point though.... NL is the most popular game but if you are uncomfortable with large single hand wagers there is always LIMIT or POT LIMIT poker.....

The "all-in" aspect of NL is brilliant when used in the right situations. It does get abused by maniacs though and the game can decend into luck or become extremely sloppy.

If you've played a fair amount of PL or Limit Holdem then you can really appreciate the brilliance of NL and the all-in aspect in terms of the odds and psychological complexity it brings with it. Just my opinion though.

Late in a tournament, all-in play preflop is very common, especially from the medium and short-sized stacks. The reason players do this, especially late in tournaments is to steal the blinds, which can get very high relative to their chip stack.

Players who go in with the goods each time are very easy to read...when they push early in a hand...FOLD.

I understand that many players, especially in freerolls, go all-in with a lot of garbage...call them with good hands and you will win in the long term. Sure you might take a couple of bad beats, but long term you will win a large amount of $$$.

The less agressively you play big hands like A-A and K-K, the more opportunity you give inferior hands to draw out on you. I am not saying to raise all in every time you have pocket Kings or Aces, but you cannot be afraid to do so when you need to. What is more "poker" than taking the best hand in the game and putting another player to a decision for his entire stack?

Like XD stated, some people aren't psychologically equipped to play NL poker. That isn't nessisarily a bad thing, you just may find it easier to play LHE or PLHE in order to eliminate the need to make an all-in decision before the flop (unless you're extremely short stacked in PLHE and the blinds + antes are more than you have left in chips, in which case doubling-up is exactly what you need).

Aces require pre flop protection. If I can go all-in preflop and get action with them, I am beyond happy. Whatever the raise, it is critical to get heads-up or 2 players to the flop. At 3and 4 callers, the Aces are competing against too many hands drawing against them. They have difficulty standing up.

Generally, all-in is something you want the other guy doing.

That'ss right, I like to play NL... it's a psycological game between you and your opponents... it's a nice oportunity to do bluff :argh:

I only go all-in with AA preflop just when is a big blind on the table in the last tables of an tournement and were the players on the table has less chips than me.
If you also had on youre table one and maybe two players who done all-in before you ,you may call it but be aware on the palyers who comes before you cause the chances that you lose are higher with the number of palyers going all-in.

I hardly ever go all in preflop, because even though you have better odds with high pairs or AK its really still 50/50. I like to know i have something before making an all in call. Thats why its hard for me to even call a big raise preflop with a really good starting hand.

going all-in preflop, is a useful tool late-game, when you in a tight spot and praying for a miracle hand anyway. with Aces, Its not that necessary, but with snowmen for instance, you dont want the guy to have a chance at bluffing you out after the flop. And you dont want him to fold at your small raise after the flop...

Its gambling, true, but sometimes you will be in a position where a "flip of the coin" is favourable. Going all-in pre-flop in early game, is nuts imo, though I would call with aces, if I was reasonably sure to have only one opponent.

I find that going all in depends on who else is at the table. If it has been folded round to you and out of the players left you are the biggest stack by a large margin all in usually works pretty well. It means that only players who have a decent hand, or are suicidal, will go up against you. Also if you do get a call you can be safe in the knowledge that at least you won't go out on that hand!

i personally think that it is dumb to go all in before the flop. i like to see flops. the only way i would go all in before the flop is if i had a good hand and a low chipstack.

So you would fold an AA if pushed all-in preflop if a few people would call? I dont agree with that at all. Laying down the best hand because its possible you will lose with it is not a good way to play poker. (I could only see myself doing this if I was 1 player away from the money...but i still might not do it)

Yeah I think for me it really depends on the type of players that are at the table I am playing at. Bc some players online will call everything and I would go all in on them. But on others that I knew would call without a big hand, I would just play it out.
