Hey,
I guess I could use specific hand, but really asking a general question.

When a competent, tag villain raises pre...and I (LAG) call with say 67s. Flop 237. Villain cbets. I understand this is villain and situation dependent..but any suggestions on plays here? What's the best way of determining if I'm against overpair or overcards? I usually call and tend to pick up reads on the turn barrel. There's definitely a skill to this...and I've definitely improved tremendously in this spot...seeing if there are any words of wisdom for me here? Any general rules/reads?

(Fyi, the above has been a huge $ maker for me when I'm against overcards and am able to identify that. Only live player, so don't have any pt3 stats haha. but if I did I'm sure I could prove this is one of my most +ev spots).

If your opponent is a competent tag, then your best option IMO is to just call on the flop for a few reasons. First, your opponent would and should slow down with his air on many turn cards. Knowing his tendencies on the turn are very important. Secondly, the times he does have an overpair, you will most likely save yourself $ by getting away on the turn without the raise on the flop. Pay attention to his bet sizing, that is one of the most important factors. How big was his Cbet? How big was his turn barrel? Typically even regs will have noticeable flaws in their bet sizing that can indicate strength or weakness. It's your job to figure out what those flaws are for this villain.

There are also a few other things to consider. Even tho he is a competent tag, have u seen him spew off? Also, is he a habitual barreler? If you've seen him spew off in spots, I'd be more likely to try and raise this flop to induce a spew from ak or a similar hand. If he loves barreling I'd be more inclined to call the flop. I think as a default tho the obv play is to call and evaluate on the turn.

call seems optimal against average opponents.
