Watch the players. The cards are nice if you have them, but you have to watch the players.
I assign a profile to every player, and begin to fine tune it. I try to guess if he will ever play a small blind, or fold the button, or check raise, or what. Once i learn that i can bet the players and the play, and bet the cards when i have them.
But the most important thing is to KNOW WHEN TO FOLD. Only play the hand you are going to win.I know you've heard that, but it's true.
Each action is information. If a player tells
you he has it....believe him. If he bluffs too much, somebody will get him.
Another way to say it. I often have played MTT for an hour, with NO good cards, and edged up the whole time, then draw an AA and go ALL OUT with one hand.
My lesson/leak there might be; I played poker just fine, until i had cards and tried to play them.
If i hadn't had AA, and had gone on about playing poker, i would have done just fine.
