This is a situation that happens fairly frequently to me. It goes something like this: I raise to 3.5 BB with AQ or AK with position. One of the aggressive blinds call (aggressive but not maniac who bets everything). Then the flop misses me completely, and he leads out with a pot size bet. What should I do here? He could easily be doing that with a pocket pair or just AJ. Should I just float and see what he does on the turn? Fold? Raise? I usually just fold it. It’s weak but I usually just wait for a better spot to go for it. I feel like they know I am tight so they know that they can push me off a hand if the flop missed me. Wouldn't they try to induce a c-bet and c/r me if they actually had something?

I guess you play micros (if not forget what I say)

Are we talking aggro fish or ok LAG player ? If it's a fish, the times I've been in situations like that i'm very often up against a good but not a great hand (something like top pair or two pair). If the board is fairly dry (even something like 288) I would maybe consider raising because even the bad players would let you c-bet with an 8 in their hands.

I'm also up against that often but unless he does that every time against you then I would just fold.

Thats how I would see it but I'd like to see what better players have to say about such situations.

A dilemma that every poker player met. There is no single solution to the problem. The question I would ask myself in this situation is: What kind of a player standing in front of me? And according to this make a decision.

You say you're in position, but what position? are you UTG or are you the button. If you're the button, it could easily look like you were trying to steal with ATC so he just flatted you and figured he'd take it away on the flop by showing aggression. What is this players donk bet %? If he's doing it a lot then raise him and find out. A pot sized bet isn't really for value as he's trying to scare you out of the pot with that(if he knows anything about bet sizing). If he wanted to you stay in the pot then he probably would have given you better odds.
