The MGM is a great place to make some cash.
Especially after a concert at the arena, most people are just looking to sit down and have some fun. (and they’re usually drunk)

Play tight and when you have a good hand bet.
You will probably get action all the time.

Good Luck

There's no real way to become a great player in 2 weeks. Biggest suggestion I have is not to open limp, play good hands(not suited connectors in early positions), don't call reraises with pocket pairs(like 22-JJ) EVER, and buy in for 100 big blinds.

Other than that read the cash game HA section and trying to pick up useful tips

Jesus, your going with 3x100bb buyins. You could be the best player in the world and be bust in under an hour.

My advise ? Play tournaments. Bink one, play cash games.

Best advice I can give for a $600 roll is tournaments only, no cash unless you hit big on one of the tournaments.

On increasing your edge, best I can say in such a short time is understand position, position, position and more about position.

Cash games seem more lucrative to me but to each their own I guess

Am more thinking about someone who admits they're not on top of their game and wants a good poker experience. With cash I think theres potential to bust within an hour whereas with tournaments his $600 will give him more of a poker adventure.....

Yeah, play the lowest buy in tournament they have, and learn about M zone theory.

M Zone theory summed up on one sentence:

"When you have 12 big blinds or less (which happens often in a tournament), your goal should be to steal blinds by going all in preflop frequently from late position when no one else has entered the pot."

Its a little more complicated than that, but that's the long & short of it.

Ill be there for the MGM Challange series tournament buyins range from 150-340.... Strategy when i first get there see how my first session of cash game goes with 100BB deep...... then play tourneys... Good thing about the tourneys is there all deep stack poker :) no TURBOS... Ill keep you updated and let you kno how the trip goes.... Till then ill be reading alot of books i guess...

Maybe best to take the Monorail/Cab/Bus/Rental Car down the Strip and play the .50/$1 NL game at Bills if you need to play cash with only $600. Lots of fishy type degenerates over there. If you see a mental degenerate that talks about his poker blog, looks like he came off the street, can not shut his mouth, you can count on him to 3-bet allin preflop with AK, and also push allin on flop with most TPTK

Since OP, didn't state what limit he plays I would go by what I play--NL. With $600, I would try and cash in a few tourneys. $600 may or may not last long. I would want a bigger cushion.

2nd what WEC said. With limited BR tournaments may be the best, but if you want to play cash I'd head to Bill's (old Barbary Coast). It's about mid-strip, right next to the Flamingo. It's the cheapest and usually most fish game on the strip. If you're going to be in the Fremont Street area, I like the Golden Nugget's room.

MGM 1/2NL is fairly easy pickings for a low roll. Go about 10PM on any late weeknight. But I wouldn't plunk down the whole roll there. Play some MTTs.

Hey,
Luxor is THE best place for regular tournaments of all sorts of buy-ins and an "easy" crowd. With your "investment amount" split it up between a certain number of tournaments over the number of days you're going to be there. Let's say 10, 60$ tourneys, for example. You are NOT going to finish in paid positions in every tournament. The trick is to play well enough to finish in paid positions just a few times.

Is this a vacation or business trip, gamleling to win money? If it's a vaction when you should have fun. What do you enjoy playing the most? What are your goals. These are things to think about and no one has mentioned them. Think about it.

Very true. I don't know how often you can get to Vegas, but if it's infrequently make sure you enjoy the trip first and foremost. Lots to do in Vegas besides poker:eek: . Also, if you can get to Vegas only rarely, try not to let any negative outcomes on the tables spoil your trip. Enjoy yourself.
