I been playing more regularly and notice some player who 3bet more than half the time preflop with their hands.
I seen 3bet and 4 bet done commonly in the limit games but this seems to be more advanced play in NL.
Can you give me some insight onto the advantages of 3bet or 4 bet when not having AA or KK or AK as your hole cards,
This must take some advanced strategy post flop play to 3bet regularly without those hole cards.

The best stuff that you might read on that subject by far is bugs articles on 3betting on donkr. It's a bit advanced series and I don't know will it fits to you or not (don't now your knowledge level) but even if its too advanced to you don't put to manny effort in understanding the optimal ranges and counter ranges, focus on a mindset and focus on an understanding the polarization of the 3bet and 4bet ranges with having value range and bluff range... Those articles helped me a lot to understand how polarized range really work...

Ok thanks those articles are on 6max tables
Not sure if this applies to 9 hand tables which I was playing in.
I think that toughest thing for me was the bet sizing post flop was so much different as there was so much money preflop I wasn't comfortable with knowing how much to bet compared to regular preflop play

Mindset is pretty much the same, i recommended it just to get some insight of how 3betting works so you can get the better understanding on the subject, no need to try to incorporate the ranges and combinations in the articles it would be counter productive actually. Could also take a look at Yanda book, i think its called applications of no limit hold em or something like that. I'm not home so i cant check is the name correct or not

Apart from 3betting with the obvious value hands (JJ+ and AK), 3betting with suited aces and suited connectors can sometimes be good as a way to take down the pot right away, and also allow you to get paid off more often with premium hands.

You wan't to be in position most often though, since that makes it easier to play postflop. Also don't 3bet fish with bad hands, since they will call your 3bet too often.

+1

Best when in position, Ace in ur hand, and/or with good postflop hands (i.e. suited connectors).

3betting around half the hands is bad, you can get taken advantage of. But its important to 3 bet some weaker hands to balance out with your big hands like AA KK AK. If your opponent thinks you only have those hands it will be easier for them to win against you. If you balance your range then its harder for the opponent to get a read and you can bluff in spots and get value in spots that you wouldnt get unless you 3 bet.

If they are 3-betting a lot then you are at a passive table.
