yah, thinking about giving the deep stacked cash games on stars a go since a friend of mine recommended playing it..

just wondering what the main adjustments are that I need to make for it?

aside from stacking off with stronger ranges since the stacks are larger and other standard stuff.

guessing this will apply to the live regs (MediaBlitz etc) more than the online ones, thankyou. :)

Depends on the quality of your opponents and just how deep your talking. At 200bb deep you can start setmining in 3bet pots. At 300bb you need to start at least considering folding small sets if your opponents aren't horrible. You can play wider ranges in position. You should take a street off more often to better control the pot size. Game/seat selection is even more important as is not tilting.

Just calling the river is horrible. I'd have been AI on the flop.

Yeah like 50nl. I used to play the deep tables on FTP but I would only buy-in for 100bb. I did it back then to avoid the SS. I'd stay if I doubled so I got a little experience playing deep but in my experience "most" of the players at those tables were better than your average donk.

ok, one thing I've noticed is 3 bets get loads of calls and over calls.

do we want to be making our value 3 bets larger as a result?

and hmm, on stars there's less regs.. there's 3 that I've got on my HUD including myself.

You really can't make them big enough to deny the caller odds (especially if there are over callers) so just stick with your standard size for the most part but be more cautious about stacking even overpairs postflop.

Was the river call a result of too many tables? I fall for it sometimes. Get distracted by another hand, especially in a hand like that where a set is probably losing to a straight until the board pairs.

Also, why is that not a spot to 3-bet with 10s? Just wondering what your thinking was. I would 3 bet there almost all the time depending on history with villain.

Other than the obvious not stacking TPTK 200 deep ,

I'd say the biggest adjustment to make is understanding the math is different. Even though this concept seems simple, players forget and will not be setmining in 3b pots (right conditions apply) , folding to 3bs incredibly wide, folding draws IP etc.

For example,

holding 44 on btn, 2.5x and BB 3b's to 12 bb's w/ 3b of 2% over large sample size.

But if both stacks are deep ( 200+), calling is okay, since villian's range is so clearly defined and when we hit our hand, were picking up much more $.

Or

CO raises to 3x, hero calls on btn w/89c

flop: 67A

CO bets PSB, hero flats.

turn K Co bets 2/3 pot

Spots like this where Hero is most likely folding w/100bb, while playing deeper you can potentially call. (taking aside how ****ing obvious your play is lol) but point remains, the math changes

Simple stuff, just some thoughts while working ;)

deep tables are lol fishy on stars btw, I adjust by playing more Axs and SCs IP, 3betting a touch wider aswell as people are uber nitty deep, they will call then just c/f alot of flops which is goot for your image aswell!

i cried when i seen you call the flop raise! deep tables are good when the fish are there but unless the fish are there i wouldn't play them exclusively, i know the 50nl deep tables are super soft but there's also some of the best 100/200 regs that venture in them too. Still worth it if the fish are there though as they do some ridiculous stuff!

cheeky min raise with the K7s ITT:

edit: anyone else have problems posting hands with PT3, whenever I post mine with the forum thing on it comes out way wrong.

Stacking TPTK on that board is pretty bad. Did you know it was acky when he 3bet you? If so, just 4bet/get it in preflop. Against an unknown, I just fold to the 3bet.

The two major adjustments I try to make playing deep is playing nuttier draws against the fishies and trying harder to pick up the small/mid pots against the regs.

i know the 50nl deep tables are super soft but there's also some of the best 100/200 regs that venture in them too.

lol @ stumbling on this thread now...

quite funny that i read your comment after playing mostly 50NL deep with a little bit of 100NL deep for the last week.

everyone ive played with is rly rly bad, bar this one guy who runs like god v me- 3bs like 15% then always x3 barrel shoves. looked him up 12 times and hes been good 11/12 times, so now i just dont touch his blinds

Be really conservative in early and middle position but play really aggressively when in late position. You can get really good reads in deep stack tournaments so make sure you are paying close attention to the other players at your table.
