adjusting to an 85/25/2

What adjustments would you make against an 85/25/2

Who will call with pretty much anything on the flop.. bet if he hits even bottom pair .. and for some reason seems to hit something every hand!!!

The initial adjustments seem straightforward but do you then worry about the rest of the table?


In the end, I essentially gave up on playing the rest of the table and just concentrated on him.. was this the right thing to do?

Play tons of pots with this player, be willing to gamble against this guy with marginal strength hands. You are hoping to not so much outplay him as make a pair+ and trap him into betting himself into oblivion. bluffing him is completely out of the question and very -ev.

Thats what I do against the crazies like this anyway, ive found them even at 1000nl....

I don't think you should have ignored he rest of the table. That could have come back to bite you if any of them noticed that, hopefully it all worked out for you. I probably would have just waited for a fairly decent hand and tried to let him trap himself and hit him for a good portion of his stack. Hopefully a couple of those and he might get the hint.

3bet for value preflop with your good hands. and post flop play TP like nuts. valuebet a lot.
if your worried about the rest of the table just isolate him preflop in position.

Isolate him every hand your gonna play.
Treat TP like the nuts.
Value bet him to death.
Dont c-bet unless u hit, never bluff him.

Big cards. Since top pair is the nuts, obviously a hand like KTo >>>> 44/78s.

The problem of playing something like 77 was if the board was say K 6 3, you couldn't c-bet because he was calling with any K but also any 3. Infact if he played preflop with 22.. e was betting this board and calling to the river.

For about an hour and a half i watched him play virtually every pot. Some he won, some e lost.. but he just got so lucky. If he lost he would go down to about $5 but within 10 minutes he would be back up to around $20.

I did eventually bust him twice.. the first I made back the money I had lost from him, the second I made some profit.. and had I'm all in.. so I lept from my chair and shouted!!

He had gone reraised my preflop bet and gone all in. I called with QQ.. not an all in I was happy with... but I was way ahead of his range.

The flop came down AKx I though he must ave paired. Turns out he had gone all in with 44.. against my 3 bet!!

Up until that point... I think if anyone could have convinced me that it was possible to see other people's hole cards.. it was this guy!!

The standard play against a maniac is to tighten up your starting hands - the idea that you can get in on any flop with this guy and value bet any pair is asking for trouble.

Yes, by tightening up you may be handing someone else the chance to bust him out, but by playing too loose you're playing into his hands. Resist temptation, so when you do face a flop with him you can be sure you've got the best of it.

argh i hate those loose buggers in cash games and MTT's.

I dont believe it was the right thing to do. Esentially your supposed
to be worried about every player on the table, and according to
who your playing, adjust your game plan. You should keep a keen
eye on that loose player, and usually play a tight game, eventually
youll trap him, but, even though he is in a lot of the hands, you must
analise the game of the other players, cause your objective is to
win as much money as you possibly can, and that money doesnt
come only from that loose player but from every player on that table.
