Raise 3xBB, same as any other hand I am opening with.

Checking isn't an option where I play ;)

Yep - that's what happens sometimes. You have a good attitude about it, which is important.

I will rarely show uncalled hands, but this is one case when I sometimes choose to. If everyone is folding to my EP standard raise, I have a table image that is feared, and reinforcing this in their minds gives me profit in later rounds when I decide to steal with weaker hands.

I would just put in my standard raise, 3xBB. Limping is to dangerous, and min raises are just silly.

what they said
but i have a much more frustrating situation for you:
you are in the BB, get dealt AA, and get a walk. there, have fun.
happened to me once yesterday (KK not AA, but still), and i gave the walk to another guy from the SB similarly ;)

The bottom line is, in my opinion that you have to mix it up and hopefully you have had a chance to play with your opponents for a while to see their style. I wouldn't standard raise every time. You have to keep them guessing.

I disagree.

You aren't gaining any deception by mixing up your betting. If you show down only the top 6-10% of starting hands from early position then they know the range you are on. Sometimes you limp, sometimes you raise, but ultimately they still know what you have - sometimes they just get to try and outflop you for a cheap price.

A better way to add deception is to play some hands that are outside of your usual range for that position, but to play every hand the same, whether you have A♠A♥, Q♦J♦ or 7♥2♠.

Yea im a firm opponent of mixing things up. The ideal way to disguise your hands is to play everything exactly the same. If you mix it up ppl have more of an idea what you are holding but if you are just as likely to raise 89s/JT etc in position as AK, then ppl have a very hard time trying to figure out whether or not the flop hit you.

HU is a perfect example. If you raise everytime, cbet basically everytime then ppl have no clue whether you have air or hit 2 pair.

Anyways as for original post...raise your standard amount unless you are at a very aggressive table where you know somebody is going to raise you further down, in which case you can limp/raise. But the worst thing that could ever happen is that you have AA OOP in a multiway limped pot.

Yeah, I agree. I'll vary my bet based on position, and how many people are in the pot. But, never on what I'm holding.

furthermore.... it isn't how you play before the flop..... it's how u play post flop. However you play, if you aren't willing to lose then you will play scared all the time.

I agree with XTR74. In tourneys someone will call 9 out of 10 times because people push with so much garbage in online tourneys.

youll encounter more frustrating times with aces than that.

Example in cc event earlier, aces on the button (final table) folded around, i push stack and aloe folds leaving about 1 bb behind, couldnt believe she didnt pay me off being so pot committed with over 1/2 her stack in the big blind. Now that is frustrating

I personally would raise 5xBB if I had over 24BB when I have a strong hand in Early position I have read an article that its better to take the blinds then lose your stack. I dont know how many times I have lost with AA because 1. I either limped in 2. made a min raise. or 3. made a 3 x's the BB. If someone is calling you after a 5 x the BB raise you can pretty much narrow them down to a set hand like AK KK QQ maybe AQ 10 10 or even JJ. I believe you have a better understanding where your at after the flop. I mean how mad would you be if somebody in late position called your 3 x BB raise with 10J and flopped a straight or somebody in the SB or BB called your 3 x's BB raise with suited connectors and caught a flush or straight. In my opinion its a good thing to "jakitup" If you disagree with this please tell me!

definitely bet, especially in micro limits where you get half the table limping and then calling with any 2 if anyone raises in LP
