You aren't gaining any deception by mixing up your betting. If you show down only the top 6-10% of starting hands from early position then they know the range you are on. Sometimes you limp, sometimes you raise, but ultimately they still know what you have - sometimes they just get to try and outflop you for a cheap price.
A better way to add deception is to play some hands that are outside of your usual range for that position, but to play every hand
