I'm in a $5 tourney at Stars in the fist hand and fist after the blind. I have AQ and raise to 100. I get 1 caller. The flop comes AQJ:) I bet 300 and the other guy goes all-in. I couldn't put him on K10 this early and calling my pre-flop raise out of position. I call and then comes the showdown. He has AK and I still feel good. Of course the 10 comes on the river.
If it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all. I was the second player out in a 1500 player tourney. I'm about to go back to my old signature: Sometimes you're the toilet, Sometimes you're the turd.

Yep 8% chance to hit the straight on the river.. but also remember he has another 3 outs with the king. Making that 7 outs to come at 28% on the turn and 14% on the river.. You went in with best hand and not much you can do after that... However remember the motto I am still learning.. No need to go balls to the wall so early on in the game.

I would say a nice call but a bad deal on cards. Look at it that you put him close to the right hand, I would have put him on AK or AQ or AJ. Two of the three you have covered and the other one is more than likely a split pot. He just happened to pull that miracle river card that everyone loves to sing about when it goes there way.

You did not fail as much as the poker gods were laughing at you tonight. Tomorrow you will see the same guy be the second one out.

P.S. My 200th post, yipee

:( I feel your pain. I got rivered twice last night. It happens, I guess. It's just that it happens a little too often.
