Ones not better than the other to me, you just have to know how to play them differently. More aggressive with 6 max not quite like the final table with 6 left but still aggressive. With more people to watch at a 9 seater you gotta play position a lot more and understand who's going to raise a lot.

When it comes to tournaments, I prefer a full table but in cash games 6-max is my favorite cause you get much more action there. Position matters there as well but being UTG in 6-max is still so much different than being UTG in a table of 9. You can play much looser even UTG in 6-max, at least I do, and that's why I like it. Game is faster and you get to play more hands. But that is only my own opinion and you should just try it out yourself to find out what is best for you and your style of play.

I prefer full ring. But I met players who mastered very well 6max. In the short tables the range opens much more and that I find very uncomfortable at times.

I agree with the consensus that 6 is more aggressive and has more action.

6-max for sure. The problem with full-ring (9 or 10 seats) is that there are too many monster starting hands being dealt, which means that your chances of winning any particular hand are reduced.

I think playing 6max makes you into a better player.

I prefer 6-max on cash. You can play a little looser than you would with a full ring. I still play tighter than I probably should, unless the table is tight.

I prefer 6 max. You are forced to enter more pots in this format. This allows a person to figure out and exploit others' tendencies more quickly as compared to a full ring format where usually "tight is right" is a rule to obey most of the time.

None of these are better, its just different.
I choose formats and stakes depending on my bankroll. For more conservative, more reliable play I choose 9 table, but it is more likely to earn more in 6 max, if you are lucky.

9 max always. Never force yourself ot have to loosen up if it isn't a tournament.

Short handed online or 9 man Live for me.

6 table 20+2 and 50+5 are my daily bread in butter games. It favors the aggressive player but also a player who knows when to reel it back a notch when needed. 9 man is catered even more so to patient players who snipe out the week players at the table to make the final 3. I personally have bad luck with 9 man unless I'm playing live. This year I'm averaging $73 dollars per hour online with 6 man tables and only $16 per hour on 9 man which is a huge difference. Yep short handed is where I play...

Pro players prefer full ring tables for cash games, much more profitable.

I play for a living and play what feels most comfortable. The stat lines and bar graphs never lie.

Six max is the best. You can have more opportunities to read the players and get a feel for their game.

I prefer the 9-player because it is more economical for those who have little to invest in games and the chances of winning are the same.
