I have noticed that some sites have 10 seat tables in Mtt'S and some have 9 seat tables. I was wondering if you would keep the same strategy or adjust accordingly.

In my experience, and from what I've read on this topic, (besides obviously having one less person at the table) you're really not going to see any significant difference playing either 9 or 10 seats. That's the short answer, at least. Basically, for 9 or 10 seat tables you will keep your same strategy.

Thanks JD...that is what i figured but was not sure. I still for some reason feel more comfortable playing 9 seaters. I have read an article by Danial Negreaunu on 9 vs 10 seat MTT's and I have the impression that he does favor the 9 seaters.

The more players there are in a game, the tighter you have to play. So play a bit tighter at a 10-seater. 9-seaters are obviously better because you're not waiting around so long between hands. But the difference between 9 and 10 probably isn't that great. Wait till you get to 5 or 6 - that's when the fun starts...

I think it is a psychological thing. When you nine players, sub-conciously you're mind is noticing only one digit in the number, not two. It's recognizing there are less people to beat. Limping earlier in a hand is less likely to be raised because you have less people behind you, etc. I'm not saying these are valid, conscious considerations to be made, I'm just pointing at the subconsious psychology behind why 9 seaters can often be more appealing than 10 seaters. Which is funny when you consider a 9 or 10 seat table in a 5000 person tourney. But personally, I don't seem to really have a preference for one over the other, and my strategy definitely doesn't change (it's just as bad either way - lol).

I favor 9 seats in MTT's because it seems like more people fish than 10 seaters. Now ring games I like 10 seaters because it seems like more people will limp into the pot.

If you have a monster hand in a ten seat table then you will probably get more callers by limping into the pot then if you would raise. You might even be able to get them to fish and call a small bet after the pot with a small bet. Now this all depends on your opponents focus on the table and if you are either in early position or late position. This is just based on my personal observations on pretty low buy-in tables. Take it as you wish :D
