Is there a reason why i can't buy in on NL2 cashgame tables at 888 with not more than 1$(50bb)? I don't know about FR but on 6-max I can't find a way to use a higher buyin.

Am I on the wrong tables or is this a thing on 888 Poker?

And another question, when the buyin is this low is it profitable to set-mine or would you only do that with 100bb buyin?

If you wanna play 100bb on 888 2nl you need to play the full ring tables, I am not sure why they have all their 6max 2nl tables to be 50bb buyins but they are and its only for the 2nl tables. Unless you play the snap tables which are 6max and 100bb buyins.

In general to setmine you need 7.5-1 odds since you will hit a set that often, generally however to make it profitable you want your opponent to have about 15/16x behind the size of the bet you need to call since you could easily get no action when you flop a set or run into a set over set situation etc and get little return or lose a stack in the set mining attempt.

Basically that means if its opened to 3xbb you want them to have 45-48bb behind which means setmining with 50bb stacks does provide roughly the correct implied odds, and even more so if there are a number of opponents to the flop where it increases the chances you get paid off when you hit your set.

Snap tables are now 50 BB BI as well

There are several reason to play full-ring NL-2
1-st and main: you can win MORE money with 2$ then with 1$
2-nd: You can play more tight poker and can wait more comfortable hand to make combination.

your 1st point is right, but tight doesnt mean better.
I like 6max more, because there is more action and i can play more hands, but as you said, since there is more money to make with higher buyin I'll play a bit FR and see how it goes

Yeah I would probably recomend playing the FR with 2nl since it should be deeper stacks on the table, although it can still be done even from 50bb stacks on 6max it can sometimes just be a bit higher variance because it often reduces implied odd's in many situations as you obviously had been thinking given the set mining question, but you can also often hit good tables where if you can get the best of it early and build a stack the fish just punt 50bb's into your stack at random lol.

It would be best though to get used to the 100bb stacks as a norm and even with full ring the tables are so loose on 888 that you could probably still play fairly profitable playing looser in the game just play position well. But yeah FR can be very boring if your just going to sit there and nit it up waiting for premium hands.

GL on the grind.
