8 max cash games?

One of the sites I play on has 8 max cash tables. I dabbled a bit in it as I was moving up a stake level...needless to say it didn't go too great and had to move back down. But my move down aside, I found myself struggling with the 8 max a bit wondering what key differences were between 8 max and 6max or full ring. I imagined it wouldn't be too different than a full ring game but I'm curious if there's any significant things to consider when adjusting to 8 max?


Obviously part of my struggle in this was the change in stakes and change of table format (I should have only changed stake, and stuck to 6-max or full ring) so really this post is looking for if there's any significant differences in 8 max that we need to adjust to?

Treat 8 max just like full ring for a bit. As you gain confidence and refresh yourself on "mathematically correct" opening ranges....you'll see u may loosen up a bit as compared to a full table.

Do you track your stats with some type of software? If so, just think about what you might need to do to slightly increase your vpip, pfr, 3 betting, etc.
