I'm going to start playing cash games soon (micro stakes) and I was wondering what should I be looking out for if I wanted to play only 6 max ? I always play 9 player tables!
I think of it this way lol, more players = higher chance of getting sucked out by a limper. (AKA the super donk who calls a bet 4x the pot with 56 offsuit) I never play 9 handed, I just like the tighter play. Makes hands like K 10/ Q 10 More valuable (And by that I mean semi justifiable for my terrible preflop calls)
As a primarily Omaha player, I play quite a bit of 6 max. you can play more hands in this format, and the biggest difference I've noticed is it seems players are less likely to give me credit for the nuts, as if there's no way you can have that ! Whereas in 9 handed games, play seems a bit tighter, and more credit given to big river bets.
AFAIK the rake kills you if you play HU below 50, that's why I always leave the table when it gets down to 3 or 2 players, unless there is a fish of course.
I recently began solely playing micro cash (used to be a sitngo player) and within a month I had to switch from 9max to 6max and it is so much better, I'm enjoying playing poker again, your game will improve quicker. The only draw back is there are more swings but my winrate has gone up and for my game I prefer 6max.
Best advice is try both, a friend of mine mass multi-tables 9 max and is doing ok but is a super nit, but he tilts at 6 max, everyone is different so find what works for you.
I like 6max cause you get to play more hands and it feels like there is more action. But IDK, I have really only had one real session of FR for real cash on Bovada. First hand I played I called a dude down with some garbage and runner runnered a flush lol. I dont think he was happy. Didnt get a winning hand after that and havent played since lol
