I play 6-max $25 NL ring games.

When I'm in the small blind with better than average hands like K/4, and it's folded to me, what is the proper play?

In this situation I tend to raise to $.75, which takes the pot most of the time. But my normal raise in other situations is to $1 ($1.25 if there's a limper, $1.50 if there are two limpers, etc.).

I figure that if they'd call $.75 raise they'd probably call $1, and I don't want to have too much invested if he/she does calls. But I'm also aware that it's obvious that I'm betting less than my normal amount.

Any advice on my betting pattern? It seems to work, but I'm always looking to improve.

It's a good bet, as long as you are consistent in it - the second you get a good hand in SB, you can't bet 1.25. If you bet 3x with K/4, you have to bet 3x throughout. Then, once you've established a betting pattern, you can use that pattern to convince people you have the nuts, and bluff them out.

Thanks. That's what I thought.
It departs from "always bet the same amount so the don't know what you have" but I think that situation is an exception to the rule.

This is a huge tell imo. Your betting pattern suggests then that you only bet 3x bb with a weak hand and 4 xbb when you have a decent hand!

I make the $.75 raise in that position with *any* hand I'm VI$IP'ing. I don't suddenly up it to my normal $1 when I have A/A. I keep it consistent for the situation.

Apologies my mistake.
