6-max table selection

I'm experimenting playing shortstacked at .25/.50 6-max tables.

After about 10 orbits, I've doubled up, I look at the HUD and the stats for the table are like this:

17/7
15/5
20/5
60/0
18/14

I'm running a ridiculous 10/5. The fish is playing 20BB max.

Is there any point to staying here?

No. Maybe if the 18/14 is on your right.

which fish? I count 4 of them at the table...

Also, you should never play 10/5 when you play shortstack. It should be something like 8/8 with an indecent 3bet%

Optimal style for shortstacking 6-max is more like 24/22. Small steals and all in resteals are their bread and butter.

Shortstacking changes your table selection strategy a little bit, but I don't see how staying at this table is better than even your average 50nl 6m table...you can easily find a lot better.

I was four-tabling at the time...overall for the session I was 16.5/9.9/4.1 with 3-bet % at 4% over 413 hands.

As I said, I was experimenting. Chuck and Belgo, you are obviously two of the smartest guys on here and yet you have such vastly different ideas on how to play shortstacked, could both of you please elaborate?

I've been looking into this because I'm really a tourney donk and not skilled playing deep.

I like the idea because:
1. Postflop decisions are a lot easier.
2. You can stack off lighter and get called FAR lighter. Eg: Twice in this session I three-bet QQ oop, got called and shoved king-high flops (slightly more than PSB) and got called by bigstacks holding AQ (gutshot) and 77. Obviously a sample of 2 hands means nothing and this is high-variance, but these were hands that would have been difficult to play or extract value from if I were deeper.
3. Easier to deny odds to set-miners.
4. Everyone automatically assumes you're a fish if you buy in short.

Well, Chuck really said it all: Small steals and all in resteals are your bread and butter. And the stats he suggests are much better at 6max.

Profitability of short stack play really comes from the fact decent deep stack players are open-raising lots of hands like 65s or QTo in the late positions, the another deep-stack flats the raise with another speculative hand in position, which is good play by both players. Then a short stack 3bets all-in with AJo or something like that and both players just have to fold because their hands are trash unless played deep.

That, and blind stealing in late position when it's folded to you.

So shoving 50 BBs into an 11-BB is +EV?

OK I'll bite... I see the numbers so far... can you elaborate on good/bad numbers when making table choice, short vs FR? What balance of loose/tight is best in each? A lot to ask I know... 3Bet too much to consider here, so which array VPIP/PFR look sweetest?
