I'm just looking for general guidance for 6 max tables, I know aggression is a huge factor in 6 max and hand selection can open up but what kind of range do you guys stick with in 6 max?

Cards that don't suck for the situation you're in. 6-max isn't like full ring, because you have much more control over who you get into pots with. Thus, there's no real guide to what hands you should play.

As c9 points out, isolation and playing the situation is much more important than hand selection per se. But if you're new to 6max, suggest you try something like the following ranges by position (if you don't have pokerstove, download it, it's free) and vary/increase your ranges as you get more comfortable reading situations:

utg- 8%
mp - 10%
co - 15%
btn - 30%
blinds - 8%

This is a pretty tight range for 6max, it'll probably get you to something like 16/13. "Good" TAG's run around 20/18 (I'm not there yet). "Good" LAG's run like 25/22.

Hope you're using a HUD...

Is this for 2NL?
PP, and A10 and up, you will find alot of loose players, that hand range seams to work the best, if you see a raise, i would fold the PP unless it's 10s and up.
Thats what i play..

Belgo's quick guide to 6max:

UTG: open-raise AA, fold everything else
BTN: open-raise any two cards, 3bet if it feels good.
HJ, CO: something in between, closer to UTG than BTN
SB, BB: same as above.

It's only slightly an exaggeration. Position is just so much more important than your cards.

6-max tables is where u have to have ur wits about. in my opinion its where the most aggresive players are at so u can find urself being 3bet very often. whilst many people will say at 6max u should play more aggresive, i would disagree, as i think u should be looking to slowplay and trap the hyper aggresive players.
