Soo I checked out my casino today, and they only offer 500nl texas hold em, is it worth a shot? I mean, I can beat up to 25nl online, but 500nl seems like a massive amount.

I heard Live is alot easier than online, should I give it a go? Any tips for me? What should I expect?

Hey..I'm a reg at either nl500 or nl1k.

Odd that that's the lowest stakes offered. Everywhere I've been there are $1/2 tbls.

Id sit and observe for 30 minutes (just fold anything but top 5%). Pay attention to everything..bet sizing, who's who, conversation (especially if about hands...tells you what level thinkers they are). Once you get the hang of live, pay attention to eyes, hand motions, betting motions, etc too. Retrack some of the hands opponent play from the beginning, especially in big pots n showdowns. "Ok he had kq..3bet preflop...flopped a straight draw...cbet..hit his draw..checked.."etc. Will be invaluable when you go against them imo.

If you get the $2/5 tables comparable to mine, its a huge jump from nl25. The fact that. Its the lowest offered could change everything tho..cause lowest I have is $1/2 and they are alllll fish. So even if you get SOME of those fish siince they have nowhere else to go...table could get very beatable.

Bring an ipod or smething to entertain...moves much slower than online, and you ain't multitabling...so you could be waitin awhile. I've noticed lots of fresh live players like yourself have super obvious tells they don't realize..waatchout for that lol.

If you can afford say 2 buyins (max of course) without really regretting it, give it a go!

I know, I walked in expecting 1/2 tables.... was shocked when they only do 2.5/5 at 10% rake up to $15 is it worth it? I live in a tourist city, so hopefully alot of fish and softer games.

Yeah Best thing would be to sit back and observe, I feel nervous about it, only being 18 and all...lol.

Thanks for the tips, theres plenty to help me out cheers bro.

Ohhhhh

Look I can't say for a fact but I've played at only one casino outside the US. Retarded rake, ridiculous hourly fee/time, full of tourists....and man, well worth it! most fish fish I've ever played w in my life lol. Ran like a freeroll or facebook game, no joke. I wrecked the table and kept thinkin...wtf??? You played THAT like THAT?? Seems like they all had crazy money and had already booked all the $$ on the table as an entertainment expense lool.

Here's hoping your tables like that! Don't go in counting on it tho lol

Queensland Australia, At the Reef hotel casino in Cairns :)

do they have any promotions to help off set the high rake? i've heard australia doesn't allow tipping so that will save you about $5 per hr but i still think $15 max per hand is redic. high unless they have some really good promotions.

why would you want to jump from 25 to 500. the win is nice but you wont win. those guys either do it for a living and are there everyday or they are millionaires and dont care about money and will call all draws which means you will eventually lose

didnt do too well, Got QQ vs AA early on vs a Shortstack I thought i was Ahead on the J high board, got straight draw by the turn and bricked river, He shows up with AA ofcourse.

Then TPTK vs a Slowplayed set, I saved myself Alot of money there.

All in all, down $250 at my first shot at $500 nl, I was on a horrid run of cards, watching people pull Fullhouses, straights etc out of everywhere. I played tight as hell, though.

Will stay online, build a roll and take Live another shot.

Staying positive :)
