Ok so for all you cash game players tell me this, is it good or bad when all the players leave? Are these sharks looking for fish or fish running from shark? I was only playing solid poker from which a lot I learned here, I was just able to out play them and getting some good cards helped.

Is 4nl beatable or should I say profitable or should it be used as a learning level and move on up?

I think it is rare for people to just up and leave just because you choose to sit down. I play 2nl where people are not that observant but there is one weak regular I always try to play against if there are no good tables available. He pretty much leaves the table the second I sit down.

People leave for many reasons, mostly because they are tired, got stacked, or made enough money and want to bank their profits, or that the table has become nitty. Fish usually leave first in my view since they eventually get stacked or they leave with their profit, causing the VPIP of the table to die down. Since the fish are gone, the sharks leave for other tables and then, everyone is gone.

There is your first poker lesson : NEVER take something personal at poker... No one love nobody and everybody hate everyone... that's a rule.. What happen on a poker table is business and in business, there is no friends!

second : You should not worry about these "sharks".. If people leave when you sit, it's because they are affraid of you (your game)... a good thing! You should consider that has a compliment.

Finaly, sharks or no sharks, if you play basic poker.. you should be able to make money. Sharks are loose players... tight players always take over!!

I doubt very much that there are a significant amount of "sharks" at 4nl to just up and leave if they think you are good.. Also very unlikely a fish is going to leave if they think you are good...they won't know the difference and just spew in any game. They won't tabe select, that's for sure.

I play 10 nl, and there are a bunch of regs I see a lot. Of the ones I see a lot of, there are some decent ones, some slightly less than decent (pretty bad) and a few who are total ATMs. When an ATM is at a table, the regs get on ASAP, and when he loses enough and leaves, if another reg takes his seat (from waiting list I am thinking) we all vacate the table in seconds.
