What up everybody,
I am needing some help please for I lose my brain with these cash games. Tournament I have no problem, but in these cash games it seems the worse you play the more you are rewarded. I am playing 4nl at lock poker and it seems when I get the money in really good. It seems runner runner and then the river rate specialist hits me a few times. I know it is poker and that is what happens. But Damn this seems to be happening to me a lot lately. I am on a goal to make a profit after 10000 hands at this level before I can move up. I am well bankrolled for it, but the point is for me is to keep striving to be better. How do I minimize these crappy beats or what goals do you use in order to make sure that you are continuing to maximize your growth on the poker table. I have only been playing for a year and my bankroll is from 90 dollars to 800. I have only officially logged about 70000 hands overall, but my goal is to be pretty damn good by next summer. I need all you tips, so I can be a bad mother at these cash games.
Thanks :icon_cher

Play smart, ABC poker. Use a HUD so that you can put opponents on ranges. Mark hands to analyze when you think you made a mistake so that you can avoid that mistake in the future.

Thanks for the advice. Actually I have a hud and I have put the people on ranges and actually have the money in good 90 percent of the time, but it just seems that people keep hitting on the river or runner runner to get the money. It is ultra frustrating.

there is not much you can do except stick to your game plan and over a large number of hands if your putting your money in good then you will see your bankroll increase inevitably.

about what percentages do you play hands from early position and middle position. I have a good range that is profitable from late position, but what kind of hands are you playing in early to middle position

Agree, but I am running 1bb/100 under EV for 83k hands and counting (and I have seen graphs that are MUCH worse that that) :D so with his volume he can forget about "inevitably" in the near future. But being break even while running badly is not so horrible either.

P.S. My BR went from 0 to 450$ in 6 months too, but to be fair most of this is from various tournaments.

Guys I freakin hate cash games. Especially on lock poker the bad beats are horrific and almost looks rigged. I am not one to comlplain but some of the hands people are playing are amazing and you cannot believe the crap they are playing and winning with. It seems that the program analyzes stack sizes and always tilts in the favor of a dramatic flop. IT is sick and I feel that I am about to pull my money from there and go to another site. I have no problem losing, but when people for 3 days have gotten the same bull crap luck then I have a problem and think someone is setting me up. I never get this issue with a live game. I need help guys how do I stop this crap. I think what I should do is go back to my sit and go and tournament because my ROI is high. More than 60 percent in the last 2 months.

You said that your bankroll is now 9 times as much as your initial investment. Why are you still complaining? Even 99% means you will have 1% chance to lose. That is the game of strategy and probability, bad beat is just part of it...

Well cash is very different from MTT/ SnG; you have to learn the game, if you play cash table hands like you would an Mtt you are gonna lose alot more often. Its not about shove or fold, or icm; we are playing 100+ bb stacks without blinds, and without levels. The game is not not rigged, but you can study how to become a better cash grinder.

I guess what are some things that you are using to make that transition. I have read some books. Right now I am reading Harrington on cash game 6 max online. Its a lot of material but I am just trying to understand what is the main difference that can help you win in cash games compared to mtt and sit and gos
Appreciate the advice earlier. my bankroll has moved up 9 times and I need to understand that unfortunate happenings is the name of the game. I have had some success lately. Over the past 6 days playing sparingly I have one 55 dollars. So I guess its not bad.

Whats up everybody. I know I was really pissed and I just had to rant to get things off my chest. I took all of your wonderful advice and then I took a vacation to the beach in Galveston texas and got away from poker for the 4th of july weekend. In the meantime I took just about 45 minutes to look at why the hell I was losing. and EUREEKA!!. I found a huge hole that was just bleeding me dry. I WAS PALYING LIKE I WAS THE BEST PLAYER REGARDLESS OF ANY TWO CARDS. What my mind frame should have been is that yes I feel that I am a better player, but you have the make the right moves to continuously be the best and I was not doing that. Calling re raises that said their hand was better. Pushing all in with 2 pair that were strong at the time, but when I looked at the hand, they were not strong at all. Raising with marginal hands too much. Raising from the small blind with marginal holdings, and then not paying enough attention to my poker tracker information that was giving me the answer. I was just too dumb and too ****y to realize the tool that I needed was right in front of my face. Your post have picked me up tremendously I have played about 700 to 800 hands at 4nl and I have hit for about 8 dollars in the past 2 days. So my advice to you all is to go out and seek help when you are in a rut. Talk to people about your hands and look at your hand histories and find where you made your mistakes. No one is too good to keep learning and poker is ever changing and the learning never stops. That is why we all like it. KEEP PUSHING and KEEP STRIVING for the TOP. Im going to get there. By the way I just pushed my bankroll over the 900 mark. Lets Go
