Is 3betting essential?

Hi everyone.this week ive been grinding at 10nl averaging 15 dollars per hour(4tables,vpip23%).i never 3bet as i hate telegraphing the strength of my hand to the unsuspected aq type hands that love betting all the way.in general im playing extremely cautious avoiding huge pots that i hate in general with just a pair or having to bluff big and it works for me as im a huge chicken.i think trapping is more important and good players in my opinion wont stack off with jj or 10s unless they think they have the best hand. i was thinking maybe im just a chicken but maybe at those tables it is not that important to create strange dynamics to get paid.I would like a chat with your personal experience and results.smallball looks nice and i dont like wild things at 10nl or 25nl but what do u think?is 3betting essential with 100bb at those stakes?Thnx in advance.

If you're truly making $15 over a sample size that isn't smaller than duckys ego or my Vpip (LOLJKS they're both huge) then don't change what you're doing. That simple

I do not think so, but with hehe hands like AA and KK I cannot see a reason to not build a big pot early. I also think targeted 3bet stealing is very profitable.

I'm sure it's possible to profit at 10 and 25nl without 3betting, but I think you could be making more.

You say you can get JJ/TT to stack off but you must also suffer some horrible beats when lower pairs hit sets and random 2 pair hands are made by hands you let in by not 3betting.

To me, online poker is a game of limited information. The more you limit that info the more of an advantage you have on your opponent.

3 betting important? Not as much as setting a raise amount.

Depending on how I feel or think the cards are running for me is how I decide what raise amount I'll use. Also important is what types of opponents do I have. Obviously if there is an overly aggressive player on my table I'll tighten up my range and stay with the 3x. But if I'm sitting with a bunch of nits then I'll lower it to get some calls, you don't want them to always fold to your raise.

Whatever the amount is 2.5x, 3x the thing that is important to me is keeping that raise amount the same for any hand I'm playing. So if I'm running 3x open raise, it'll be that raise no matter if it's 9Ts or AA.

nah i hate 3b'ing especially light

If you want maximum value, then yes 3bet.

If you dont...then, carry on and dont.

You will find people can't help wanting to see flops so if you're refining from doing so, you will be losing money.

3betting is definitely not essential, but obviously helps your overall win rate becoming a complete player.

Your winning 50bbs/100 hands?

Congrats. You solved the microstakes, if you don't 3bet then maybe I should be taking your advice, not the other way around.

Personally I find that overall having a wide 3 bet range is very profitable for me, its also player and dynamic dependant but I tend to find that a lot of micro stakes players make plenty of mistakes in 3 bet pots.
