You check and you run the risk this guy has a K or A and another pops up on the board - then what? Not that you should play scared but to slow play that after the flop would be the definition of overvaluing your hand. You really don't even want to do that with AA. One pair is still only one pair. The more cards you let your opponent get to the greater the chances he will come up with something to crush that pair.

Average winning hand???? 2 pair - If that is just average then what is one pair?

You provided like zero information. No stack sizes, reads, preflop play, positions. How can anyone give you a solid answer?

I thought nothing is special, so I did not write more. Anyway still the answer is helpful.

Probably offering more information should be better. 100bb stack 6max, I am in SB, villian in mp. not many history.

depends on the flop id say ... if overcards show on board id make a sizeable cbet just to fish out who is still interested and go from there....... if flop is a bunch of rags you might slowplay it.... if there are some potential draws id cbet to see whos interested then watch 4th and 5th...... really situational but a strong c bet can give you some good info about what your opponents are holding.

so you mean if the flop is J83, I probably can slow play it?

weellllll...... you could . i personally continuation bet probably more than i should , so i would cbet that flop (J-8-3) 9 times out of 10 hoping someone hit top pair and will give me action.... but if you are first to act and you check it this may encourage youre opponents to stab at the pot ... whereas a strong cbet into opponents with middle pair or worse may result in folds all around...
Also anyone sittin with a 9-10 would have a openended strght draw .....
personally i like to lock down a pot when i can so i would most likely c-bet here

No. That is a bad idea. 90% of his range is drawing here at best.

Cbetting folds his aces and kings, or puts money in a pot you virtually own.

A cbet gets lots of calls from TJ+ 9T, AJ and sometimes A8.

A cbet charges your villain to draw.

There is NO reason to ever slowplay this really...

Yes, continuation bet about 3/4 pot size.

If he bets over you, you have some thinking to do. Definitely a spot where you want to take down the pot right there. You shouldn't look to bust somebody on every hand.

If he calls and an over card shows up, you want to value bet. If he raises, you fold. If he calls, be weary of a draw or middle pair.

Just my 2 cents.

Against an aggressive player out of position i might even elect to check/call or even check raise. If he has hit say the J in the best case scenario most players will oblige to cbet in position and some will even go as far as re raising a check raise all in with top pair as most player overvalue it.

However, against a more passive player i would be value betting this board every time.

Firstly it depends on which category the player belongs. But generally speaking it is false to let somebody see a free card...
