I am thinking a tighter player will 3 beat AA KK only
If I want to expand my 3 beat range what preflop hole cards should I start off with?
What range is a light 3 better?

Probably better to get the fundamentals down before getting fancy. At 6 max just 3b AK, AA,KK and QQ. Stack most flops (in general, not gospel) w/ AK if you hit the A or K as the PSB should be favourable.

Depends on the table your at and the type of players you're playing against.

I experience full table. not much 6 handed.
3bet range AA, KK, QQ,AK,AQ, I dont like to 3bet AJ,JJ but sometimesKQ and low suited connectors otherwise the range is too predictable. This is forloose, light 3bet....

mmmm, table depends, micro ppl call with anything because play is so bad, got to know if you will get folds all around, will BB raise 'cause he likes to play? is CO tight and raised? did UTG call and he's weak tight? so many variables, to say "yeah go for it" is totally lame. All hands are difficult post flop when you are playing ppl who have no range, so you have AA pre-flop and Dingleberry calls or raises, then T,5,3 board is safe, right? He raises 8X BB, ??? AT? KT? TT? 23? how does he play? Tourny's come down to luck a lot of times (sorry to say) I had A7 in SB with BB calling and flop came T3A, I shoved and he had TT, my bad.

If you're a decent winning player then 3betting any hand is profitable I guess against the right sort of player.

You cant just say no with no why. 3x or 4x on that hand as well is just effective.

Don't 3b AJ. Infact, most of the time it'd be +EV to chuck it while your still learning.

but in late position it appears to work, as I am representing AK hand and the blinds are folding to it.

Tight 3 betting with AA AK KK AQ QQ KQ no light 3 betting for me currently
I been playing with some ultr tight players that never 3bet play AA as a raise- call or check reraise but not 3 betting and then push on the flop

I'd three bet JJ and get rid of KQ.

I would try and polarize your range if you want to 3bet light. That is, 3bet all of your big value hands, AA, KK, AK, QQ and then a bunch of other speculative type hands that can flop big once in awhile but are too weak to call a raise with. This might be some hands like A4s, 89s, KTs.

Try to avoid 3betting really good hands like JJ, TT, 99, KQs that have huge value but can't stand a 4bet and can get you into all sorts of tricky situations postflop in a bloated pot. By polarizing your range you keep your decisions simple which is most definitely a good thing especially for beginners.

But all in all, I really don't recommend 3betting light very often at the micros (assuming that is where you play). You should be 3betting for value the large majority of the time.

from what I see 3 betting light seems to be very common.I think a lot of players are 3 betting just for the sake of 3 betting(in the micros) and therefore they dont give you much credit when you 3 bet them.so its all player dependent really.
an opp I was playing was folding to 90% when 3 bet against him so I 3 bet him with 94,he called and the flop came 944,it ended up all in and he showed AA,he called me fish, donkey all sorts of names,he should of 4 betted me really.

Been finding that 3bet are way more often in the tighter 6 max games than the FR tables.
There really isnt a lot of 4bets at those tight 6max games. It's the same frequency as the FR Usually someone has the AA or KK with the 4bet at those games too. Most call or fold to the 3bet at the 6max games.
3bet is effective against someone that 2 bet more often than usual and fold more often to a large betsize 3bet.
