I've been looking through the Poker Fighter website someone posted on here and had a couple questions about the tables with hand ranges it has for pre-flop. Hopefully I was understanding them right.

1. You should never just call a 3bet out of position?
2. Why is the range of hands you would 4bet/5bet out of position more than the range for in position?

Yes, the basic idea at mikrostakes is not to flat 3bets OOP because there is nothing worse than playing 3bet pots OOP without initiative and usually at those stakes 3bet ranges are Strong. But as with everything in poker, this is not an ultimate rule because as always it all depends on ranges (in this case villain's 3bet range). If his range is Strong you can sometimes flat premium hands/4bet bluff, and if his range is somewhat polarized you can flat a bit wider and raise your weakest hands (since raising/betting value hands into a polarized range does not usually make any sense...). There is also a concept of Range Switch... But yeah, usually you dont want to flat 3bets OOP :)

Is it? I think it also depends on a range you want to 4bet/5bet into.

1. It depends. If your opponent is a nit or TAG, you may just easily choose between 4bet and fold, as your opponent's range is quite narrow. However, if your opponent is likely to squeeze/isolate quite often and usually 5bet/fold when facing 4bet, flatting with AQ/QQ/JJ may be better and will bring you more value as your range is ahead of most of your opponent's hand.

2. I don't think so. It just depends on your opponent's playing style. It is never a wise option to 4 bet with AJ OOP against a nit/TAG.
