Hi Everybody,

I'm Relatively new to the game and I'm playing mostly NL 2 max zoom. What are people's thoughts on 3 betting ranges and when is it profitable to cbet and also when to double barrel?

well its kind of weird to get a 3 bet range just because the stakes are so low and people could be getting into hands with just about anything. I think mostly at this level you have to play your hand and worry about your hand. if you get re raised then more than likely just let it go and move on to the next hand. I have tended to have struggles here lately just becaue i have not played very much in the past 5 months online and i am just getting drilled at the moment, but i know once i get back into the routine i will be fine.

i think it is about routine and playing a lot of hands. Once you play a lot of hands i think that you will notice the situation because you have been in it before and then you make a better decision because of it. Most people at this level are not thinking about betting ranges. probably as you move up to NL 10 a lot of people will be thinking more in that way and the hands will tend to play more standard then crazy as you maybe experiencing.

Not that easy

Although it is true that there are more players at this level entering the pot with any two random cards considering its the lowest stakes, from what I see the players aren't generally that bad. I guess I'm just confused in general what 3 betting is meant to accomplish besides when its completely for value....

Zoom has its own rules, be aggressive but not with everything....for me it is profitable to play suited connecters like 10j and stuff like this when I have a good position
Three bet all kind of pairs a k , a q....
You will definetly steal some money....value bet after flop if you hit a set or if you got a draw.....don't pay to much with lower pairs not hitting the set when there are high cards on the board, especially aces, most times you will loose then

I've played 50k hands at 2NL 6-max zoom on pokerstars, all within the last few months, and my win rate is 6.5bb/100 (so $65 up total).

The thing to note about this game format is that everyone plays extremely tight preflop. Most players are never 4bet / folding, meaning they'll only 4bet hands that they're willing to stack off with, and this range is usually KK+ with a few occasional AK combos mixed in.

You can take advantage of this by light 3betting and light 4betting, but make sure that your 5bet shove range is only KK+. I'll typically 3bet a lot of marginal hands on the BTN, including suited connectors, low to medium pocket pairs, suited Aces, suited Kings, and any hand that you'd open UTG is something I'll 3bet on the BTN. I keep the same sort of range for re-steals (SB vs BTN, BB vs BTN and BB vs SB). I'll also often 4bet / fold a lot of junk hands. So if I open raise to 6c with a hand like ATo, someone 3bets me to 18c, I'll often 4bet to something like 40c with the intention of folding to any 5bet shove. You'd be surprised how often this works against nits who will only give your 4bets action with KK+.

Hi Becky.

As you are new to poker, it's a good idea to review the advice you are given about how and what to play and draw your own conclusions from the best advice. It's also worth keeping a note of what works and what doesn't, and that way you will start to learn from every hand that you play and your game will improve.

Good luck
