Hey guys,
Just a quick simple question that pops up.
Maybe I was “lucky” or had some good tables but.. I moved on after 5k hands from 2NL to 5NL.
I wanted to try this and because people said there is no difference until 10NL, why not? I was winning on the 2NL tables, but don’t have the hard facts (xxbb/100) here with me (typing this from work )
After 5k hands on 2NL I made a profit of 22$, I don’t play that much, not multi tabling a lot.. Only a max 2h per day, for max 5 days a week. So let’s say 10h a week, maybe a bit more in the weekends. I try to play good poker, learn, improve and so on, but sometimes it’s hard on the lower levels, because they seem not to understand they have a fold button J I run a bit above EV, but only 2$, so all seems ok.
Now, moving to 5NL, I did not expect much difference when I read here everyone telling it is the same. So I did, and.. After 500 hands I’m already +32$. And I did not get that many good hands, but they seem much more to know where to fold button is, look at the table dynamics and know position already a lot more! They are constantly trying to blind steal, putting pressure, but.. they just do it because they’ve read it somewhere, so easy to exploit and light 4bet them. Also, the ones that are not doing it, are easy to spot and will almost fold every time and expose themselves as very weak players and easy to exploit.
So for me there is a difference. It is also much “easier” for me to spot them on bluffing! 2NL is really wacko and I agree, (semi)bluffing is not the way to go there except if you have a good read on them and there FCBET says 99%.
So for me there is a difference. I see more “relative good players” that understand the game, but still make mistakes by playing the game as they think they should, robotic like. The fishes losing a lot more money which is good for my BR.. So is this something you guys also feel? Or do you say: stupid, you’ve played only 500 hands and you were lucky
Also as extra sidenote:
I play on PS and... Compared to live games, it seems that a lot of bad players are payed of for playing bad. I mean, a lot of strong hands are way ahead until.... the river. I saw so many good players or play loosing on the river by bad calling stations, that it is really getting annoying. Live games a set is more likely to hold, a full is likely not getting beaten by quads or a higher straight flush...... You get the picture. I try NOT to get to the river, because it sucks on Stars :/
