So the villain sat down with the maximum buy in of $5 and had auto reloaded on so I assumed he knew an ace was higher than a king. The hand in question.

PokerStars - $0.02 NL - Holdem - 8 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

SB: $5.01
BB: $5.61
Hero (UTG): $2.00
UTG+1: $2.96
MP: $1.89
MP+1: $5.10
CO: $5.00
BTN: $2.00

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero has 3:heart: 3:club:

Hero calls $0.02, UTG+1 calls $0.02, fold, fold, fold, fold, SB raises to $0.08, fold, Hero calls $0.06, fold

Flop: ($0.20, 2 players) 3:diamond: 2:diamond: A:spade:
SB bets $0.18, Hero raises to $0.42, SB raises to $4.93 and is all-in, Hero calls $1.50 and is all-in

Turn: ($4.04, 2 players) 7:diamond:

River: ($4.04, 2 players) J:spade:

SB shows K:spade: A:diamond: (One Pair, Aces) (Pre 46%, Flop 7%, Turn 20%)
Hero shows 3:heart: 3:club: (Three of a Kind, Threes) (Pre 54%, Flop 93%, Turn 80%)
Hero wins $3.90

Now I'm from Northern England and mining is in our blood so I see nothing wrong with calling a 0.06 raise when the villain is sitting on a full stack and my only intention is to hit that set,if I miss then I'm done with the hand.

Did I do something totally wrong because the villain was less than complimentary about my play in the chat. I mean he was pi**ed off.

It's 2nl ignore him, this is fine and completely standard.

EDIT: Didnt even notice the limp/call, generally don't do that, but as its 2nl i'm not sure tbh.

I always find it a good thing if you p**s other people off while playing, tilting players never play well.

Set farming isn't a bad idea especially if you feel you have implied odds. You played it correctly, plus you tilted him.

Well if the villain wasn't tilted enough after my 33's they lost a buy in again a few hands later with KK's on a Q38 board lost to a fish holding Q3 off, OUCH!! unsurprisingly they left after that hand not before leaving some more pleasing comments in the chat.

Cheers for the input everyone. re-assured me that my play was correct.

Limp/calling small pairs pre really depends on the table. If they'll let you get by with it AND pay you off when you hit it's fine.

To be honest I'm normally folding here UTG, is that nitty?, but their was quite of limp calling going on, so thought I'd try my luck.

No. Folding small pairs UTG at a FR table is fine.

Just ignore people who vent their anger when they get owned.

nh.

Also' I'd much prefer just folding UTG with a hand like this or open. Not a fan of limp/calling.

i play exactly like you hit the set or take turn for pennies or fold to real bet. i have noticed that online players see ace king and assume they have already won the hand and get greedy and start throwing big bets at missed flops or a single pair then get pized when they lose

You'll find (if you haven't already) that poker players generally have the biggest possible egos. They think they must always be right in their thinking simply because it's them - Centre of the Universe. To them everyone else (ie thee and me) are complete idiots while they are specially gifted. So if they win they must have played correctly; if you win you're lucky.
I woiuld have said your play was, as oragnpeeleo stated, standard play.
PS. If anyone calls me an idiot in chat or similar my standard reply is ty. That really annoys them!

I would play it exactly the same way. His shove is highly questionable here BTW so not like he is an expert on 2NL play.

@Cafeman: Your right I should be made of stronger stuff coming from Donny, in my defense I've just moved back, been living in Leeds the last few years and it must of softened me up:).

Cheers for the help everyone.

Most tables i'd play at reraising the flop like you did, most ppl would all fold.

I guess fishies were there and that's great well done. You got the best out of the hand and well done but I think overall most times you play it like that, you'll take the pot down on the flop.
