hey guys, so my BR is at $18, i deposited $20 yesterday and have played about 7 hours....only lost the 1 buy in so its pretty steady for a beginner i suppose......but anyway i have a question......yup another one lol

should i leave the table when i double up and get to $4?

the reason i ask this is that ive heard you need a different stratagy for deep stack play etc, and im not there yet....plus im trying to grow my BR slowly, while trying to prevent too much damage by losing it all at this early stage in my learning......

now ive got a funny feeling you will say 'stay at the table while its still profitable' but is that advisable to someone with no deepstack experience and a shit BR lol......cheers :)

Out of interest, how much up and down did you swing in those 7 hours?

Yeah get up when ya double up is fine right now

You only have 10 buyins as is which is super risky even when youre much btter than ur opponents...good to be conservative and limit the dmg u do with mistakes that ur gonna make.

That said once you get really good...yes only get up once table isnt as profitab le

tbh id just stick around, but then just make sure you only get it in pre w like KK and AA and sets+ postflop vs other people when 200bb ESS.

could be waiting for like EVER to get a monster lol, but i see the point....will open up another table then and keep that running, while waiting for the monster/sets

the idea when you get deep is to call other players who have like 200bb+ aswell w suited connectors, call 3bs w low PPs to setmine etc. peels the nutz then stack c***s lol

You don't have to wait for premiums and sets and play them only on that table. Against the villains with 100bb stacks you can play as normal, against other deep stacked villains you can still bet with TPTK type hands, just don't get carried away and put your whole stack in, and be prepared to fold if they raise you.

At 2nl when playing deep for stacks against the reg types you want nuts or near nuts but vs the fish who have doubled up top 2 pair is often good enough. I've seen fish throw in 250bb with TPGK at 2nl.

And what jchoop said about playing hands with good implied odds like low pockets and SCs

Agreed. If you're stacked deep, and you're against another big stack, implied odds with small pocket pairs or suited connectors are great. Just make sure you're willing to let your underpair go, and don't try to outplay anybody at 2NL.

Also, £4 is more than 20% of your bankroll. I'd be inclined to leave, and rebuy at another busy table for 100BB. Remember to make good table choices; at 2NL, I find this is the most important thing in maintaining a profit.

I'd be inclined to stay at any table where I feel I'm +EV, and otoh, to leave any where I'm -EV. And most of the time, this applies regardless of how much I've won or lost at the time.

I understand the line of thinking that says you shouldn't have more than a small % of your BR on a single table. I also understand that you're talking about a buyin that is the price of a cup of coffee, so I can't blame anyone very much for choosing not to be completely anal about sticking to a BRM guideline. And no, I don't mean it's alright to disregard BRM entirely.
