So, here's my question. Our objective in 200 nl is to win 4-7 bb/100 max. At .05/.10, I can easily earn 20bb/100, normally more. I'm imagining most 200 nl could as well. The micro stakes allow for more exploitative play vs purely game theory optimal. Therefore, our winning are leveraged. Why then would I risk 200 dollars to earn 10 when I can risk 10 for the same amount? Am I under evaluating how much a 200nl player wins per 100bb, or are my micro winnings through the roof? I don't think that's it.

I don't play the high stakes games, but I have given it some thought. And, I haven't done the math, so I'm just speculating.

It just takes one big win at one high stakes table to pocket a lot of cash. That can be require as little as a few minutes of time playing poker. The rest of your day/night can then be spent on other things of value to you. On the other hand you're going to have to work long and hard to make much money at micro-stakes.

Again, I don't know what the actual numbers are, but I've seen hundreds of dollars change hands in one just hand at the higher stakes.

Well, I am a micro stakes player, so this might be biased. However, I feel that your numbers are definitely on the higher side. In the long run you shouldn't be able to keep that win-rate constant, so I'd expect somewhere around 15BB/100 (which already is very nice).

Now, if you are a solid 200NL player, you will probably be able to beat those tables, which means that on a good day your earnings at 200NL will FAR exceed those at 10NL (also on a good day).

As long as your BRM allows you to play whatever stakes, I feel that all there is to it is game selection. Find fish at 200NL - go for it. If there is fish only at 10NL - play those games. :)

Game selection doesn't even matter at micro. There's a fish everywhere. 200nl heck yeah. Think black rains book said the micro stakes 2/5, which plays near identical to 5/10 should be 15=20. I may be wrong. Your numbers not far off.

Also, how big is your hand sample size for your 10NL winrate?

Some really bad math in this post man.

5bbs at 200nl is $10/100 hands. 20BBs at 10nl is $2/100 hands.

Not to mention, 20bbs/100 at just about any stake now a days is unsustainable. Me thinks this is a post w/ someone with under 20k hand sample.
