so obviously i tried to bluff and got caught. How was my line? I told the guy nice call after which another guy told me that it was a standard call. Considering my line, why would calling me with 98752 be standard?

EDIT - I gave this response as if villain had only drawn 1, since I didn't realize villain drew two the first time I read the hand history.

Just check back the river. Why bluff? Villain is (obviously) not folding anything better, and you're going to win 60% of showdowns if you just check back your T8. You're just value-cutting yourself 99% of the time when you bet this after draw 3.

Calling with a 98 isn't standard. Truthfully, he should be more inclined to v-bet it than check/call. But the players you're playing against at this level are fish, so you can pretty much ignore what they say.

EDIT - Now that I realize villain drew two, I think this v-bet is a little better, but still not much. Obviously, since villain is drawing two on the last draw, he's not very good, so he'll be calling wider (because showdowns are fun!). But I'm still not sure I see a ton of value in betting a T8 on the river here.

Yeah, don't usually value bet the T.

I also don't like the 876 draw against 2 opponents, it's an implied odds nightmare since you'll be paying off any made hand. I guess I'd like a call and draw 2, but that's my preference.

So you'd break the 8?

2-7 triple draw sim, 100000 trials, 3 draws:
Hand 0: 2c 7d 6h 8h --: EV 33.9% - WIN/LOSE/TIE %: 33.5/65.6/0.9
Hand 1: 2s 5s 8c -- --: EV 29.9% - WIN/LOSE/TIE %: 29.6/69.8/0.6
Hand 2: 2h 3h 7s -- --: EV 36.2% - WIN/LOSE/TIE %: 35.9/63.6/0.5

2-7 triple draw sim, 100000 trials, 3 draws:
Dead cards: 8h

Hand 0: 2c 7d 6h -- --: EV 33.6% - WIN/LOSE/TIE %: 33.1/65.9/1.0
Hand 1: 2s 5s 8c -- --: EV 28.9% - WIN/LOSE/TIE %: 28.8/71.0/0.2
Hand 2: 2h 3h 7s -- --: EV 37.5% - WIN/LOSE/TIE %: 37.0/62.0/1.0

Not much difference between breaking the 8 and keeping it, in terms of straight up equity. However, this assumes that our opponents are good (as in they have smooth 2 card draws). This is certainly not the case at 10c/20c stakes. Additionally, we are in position, so we can draw a little rougher.

OOP against good opponents, I'd ditch the 8 on the first draw. In this game, in position, I'm holding it. The worse your opponents are, the more inclined you should be to make a draw that *gets there* often, rather than a draw that is smoother than your opponent's.

I don't play .1/.2, but where did you find that sim? All I know is 2 dimes and that's single draw.

But yeah, bgomez, I do ditch the 8. The 876 has horrible implied value, if it were 2348 I'd be fine keeping the 8.
