My initial table in the Sunday Full Tilt Game had several players agree to a side bet of $1 for anyone who won a hand with 2 7 off. I didn't join primarily because it would have been bad bankroll management for me, but also because as a mostly tight player, I thought that I would be at a disadvantage to players that are comfortable with any 2 cards.

Then I got to thinking, a tight player's raise with 2 7 looks a lot scarier than a loose player's. Perhaps my logic is all wrong.

Who do you think has the advantage in the 2 7 off side bet, a tight or a loose player?

LOOSE

I would say that it gives an advantage to a loose player. Your not gonna know what they are holding anyhow..So playing a 27 os instead of a 10-9 os isnt going to effect there descision making. I think you have a lot better chance to sniff out the tight-player making a move with 27os

Your logic is correct. Let's say someone is ridiculously tight (say they only opens QQ+, AKo+). If they mix in 27o into the mix, they have a range of QQ+, AKo, 27o which is still a very strong range and thus can not be played back at with weak holdings. If they decide to play back against you, you get a ton of value on your good hands.

On the contrary, someone who already has a loose range makes their range even wider. The looser someone is, the more you can play back at them. Thus, you can play back at a loose player even more if they include 27o into their range.
