In every single free roll i am in people go all in on the first hand, me having AK Suited I Call. they show some bad hand like 9 3 offsuit and end up winning all the time.

Should I Avoid these people, or should I push them in with good hands before they get the chance? It always makes me PO'd after waiting 2 hours waiting for the freeroll then getting out within 15 minutes.

When i do ignore them, i end up being shortstacked against monster stacks. Any help?

Gamble early with good hands and if you loose wait for the next freeroll. Thats what they are doing. If you get a good start then play it out normally. If you get knocked out early you go find another free roll some where there is always a free roll.

the first 30min or so of a freeroll isn't really poker in my opinion. BadAce is right, play the good hands, but unfortunately you'll always get some 9 3 donk. It's the nature of the beast though. The only way to get away from that is to play $ games or tourney's.

What I try to do is not raise too much or at all during the beginning of a freeroll. This way you can tell when someones just being a douche bag and going all in, as they push all their chips in when the blinds are at 5 and 10. I try to at least see a flop before I push my cards even with a good hand. But theres always someone out there willing to put all there chips in with any 2 cards, especially in a freeroll. If you do win some chips in the early going I like to kinda sit out and only play hands like AQ or AK or high pocket pairs until all the goof balls get weeded out.

O contrair!

The first 30 minutes of every freeroll is NL HOLDEM AT IT PUREST! It just happens to be the gamble part of NL and none of us care to deal with it.

Since it is a freeroll, and the cost of all freerolls is the time invested, many good players, along with the new players will put all other players to the test with the ALL IN.

IMO, folks who gripe about the aggressive early freeroll wacko's should be seeking out LIMIT games or tourneys.

IMO limit games are boring... theres not many risks and you cant win alot if you have good hands. But in NL free's theres too much all-in.

You get what you pay for in a freeroll. It is like flying ATA (moment of silence) versus first class on British Airways. The quality of passengers vary greatly. So learn to live with it or pony up some real money and play with those who have more invested than just time. In addition most freerolls pay pennies unless you make it to the last table and even then only 3 or 4 players make more than a couple of bucks.
