1/2 NL with avg. buy-in of $100. Typical 50% raise pushes people out?

In a small scale home game, with most people buying in at $100, I have noticed that you can't exactly do the standard 50% raises. It gets too big, even if the pot odds say they should call. This is either good or bad.

For example, say you have a 5 people in with a $10 raise.
$50 pot.

Now, flop and you have top pair.
You bet $25. 50%.
2 people call.

Pot is now $50 + $75 = $175

Turn comes with crap, so a good value bet is 50% or $80.
But, most people will fold with an $80 bet, since it's the rest of their stack.

If you want people to call, you need to give them a lower raise,
b/c they may not be computing pot odds anymore, but just looking at their small stack.

I have noticed the same thing too. When playing live, ppl tend to fold to big bets, which is 50%+ in their view, but they keep calling as mad when you bet smaller. You can take a huge advantage of it of course. Just adapt your betting patterns imo. When value betting, bet smaller than you would online. When bluffing, you can simply scare them out with a big bet. Of course there is a danger of giving them out too good odds to outdraw you in vain, but it's still better to be outdrawed few times and be paid out often, than to make ppl fold too much when you're holding a strong hand.
