In a small scale home game, with most people buying in at $100, I have noticed that you can't exactly do the standard 50% raises. It gets too big, even if the pot odds say they should call. This is either good or bad.
For example, say you have a 5 people in with a $10 raise.
$50 pot.
Now, flop and you have top pair.
You bet $25. 50%.
2 people call.
Pot is now $50 + $75 = $175
Turn comes with crap, so a good value bet is 50% or $80.
But, most people will fold with an $80 bet, since it's the rest of their stack.
If you want people to call, you need to give them a lower raise,
b/c they may not be computing pot odds anymore, but just looking at their small stack.
