$1-$2-$2 Ante structure
I've been starting to play $200 max buy in cash games at a local casino lately. I don't know how common this ante structure is, but I haven't had any experience with it before. The button has a $1 ante while SB and BB both have $2 antes. It's $4 to call.
Last time I played, I lost half of my $100 stack to the blinds alone and I'm wondering if I'm playing too tightly. I realize you should play more loosely with higher antes, but the games in general are very loose passive. There's a lot of limping, and raises are still likely to get called. So I've been trying to stick to a tighter range, my VPIP is somewhere between 10-15%.
Right now, I buy in with $100. I call with pocket pairs. I typically open for $10-$15. I'll raise to $15-$25 with my premiums depending on how many limpers there are, and if I hit top pair or better, I'll either try to get my stack in on the flop or the turn. Does this generally seem like a sound strategy for this kind of game? Or would you play it differently?
