Hi there guys, hope you are well and the poker gods shine their light on your tables
.
I have begun to play at partypoker and in order to get a free $50 bonus I must clear 100 partypoints.
I played four .01/.02 tables for an hour, made a little, moved to .02/.04, made a little more, after around 2 hours I'd made a neat $20.
Now I dont consider myself a good cash player, but things were going as I thought they should, playing decent hands in position and often raising to narrow my opponents and frequently betting half the pot on the flop maybe 25% of the time I did this with nothing. Taking down the pot.
The rest of the time maybe I had an overpair to the flop, tptk etc. It was working for me in that when I had a great hand and was called to the showdown and id bet half the pot on flop, turn river and built a decent pot, my half pot bets were representing value bets hopefully when I made them to single opponents and getting their fold on the flop or the turn.
In contrast to my mtt tourney play which id imagine is weak tight, (however successful enough and aggressive with the goods) I was playing somewhat strongly and in a similar pattern to that which makes me fold against these sort of moves at a cash table.
When im betting half the pot on the flop the likelyhood of two more half pot bets was stopping people from even checking out the turn without a good hand and im thinking im also not giving odds to draws.
Im sure this would be an exploitable strategy but it was working.
After 3 or four hours Id played heaps of hands, got $20 ahead, lost $10 after moving up a level to .05/.10 in a donk bankroll manuevre with a flopped straight first hand, to lose on the river to the bigger straight (in the hand my play wasnt the mistake I just shouldnt have been at the table, losing $4 would have been much easier to swallow) So follow that with another donk BR move and play just one more game before bed sound familiar? So not impressed with the cash games and my tail between my legs I buy in for a $1 no, $3, no, oh look heres an $11, 6 player no limit holdem. Well fortunately I got 2nd for $24 i think.
So at least off to bed feeling good and up, but after all this play I had made only 6 partypoints and I need to earn 100.
Crikey I cant manage to ask a simple question,
If you are playing on partypoker which games would you play with $68 if you had to make 100 partypoints in order to keep the first $50?
As I stated before Im not a really confident cash game player and I think that if I played only stt's I would have a chance to simply keep increasing the " $18 cash" that I have won over and above the $50 introductory bonus.
Losing it in order to chase 100 partypoints would be a shame, does anyone know how to break this down ito a value of pots i must play etc?
Can we "label" the play at partypoker? Most CCers it seems play FT and Stars, myself included, are there few differences or some important ones?
I didnt look any players up whilst playing, something that i will do on occasion on other sites for a little info.
I would not have played the tables, or in the same manner I think, if I was playing on pokerstars with my hard earnt. I will certainly not have enough time to make 100 partypoints at low level buyin stts.
Any suggestions?
Regards
Roy
