I was at a cash game on sunday playing 1/2 no limit. It was a professionaly ran charity event, Ive been to several. I sat with 50$, after an hour Im up 200$, All of a sudden I hear CLOCK !!!,when it was my turn 1 milisecond after it was my turn. I asked him what was up he said ask the dealer, Dealer just kept counting. So I fold, Next hand same thing, Finally the third time he did it,1 milisecond after it was my turn, I called for the floor person. Floor said he had the right to do that. I didnt understand and I still say thier wrong. So I took my chips and said F.O. !!!!!!!! Next time I go Im bringing a copy of some rules. i felt like the dude was harrassing me and they should of made him move. I was taking about 30 seconds to act when I was gonna play a hand. Thank you Comments appreciated.

You are allowed to call a clock on any player to restrict the amount of time they have to act on their hand. He was most likely just doing it to put you on tilt or get you upset/angry/to leave, which it seems like he accomplished.
That's just how the rules are...

AFAIK they can call the clock as soon as it's your turn to act.

If you are allowed to call the clock 1 second into someones turn, then thats just stupid. I strongly disagree with that rule.

I saw someone do this to Helmuth at a WPT (I think) event. He was furious and commented that he had never seen anyone do this in the years that he has been playing poker. This situation was a little different in that Phil took a long time one hand making a call and someone eventually called time. This pissed Phil off so the next deal he waited until the person called time again before folding preflop. The very next hand the guy just immediately called for it.

Phil actually went off on the floorperson and the person that called time on him and ended up on the rail for a fifteen minute penalty.

I can understand calling time if someone has been taking a tremedously long time to make a decision, but, you still have to give them a reasonable amount before calling it.

Leaving the table was the right thing to do. That guy is obv an ass. Generally you should be respectful and give players time to make their decisions.

Eh, the clock is at the discretion of the floor, and the floorperson is clearly an idiot if he's allowing someone to abuse it.

I don't really think this was "professionally ran" if stuff like that was happening.

AFAIK they can call the clock as soon as it's your turn to act.
Everything I've ever heard or read has stated that a clock can be called on someone after they've had a REASONABLE amount of time to act on their hand. In the case of an all in decision though, a clock is rarely enforced unless the time becomes extremely excessive.

Obviously the floorman and the dealer were complete and udder morons if the OP's description is accurate.

Now, having said that, if everyone is making 95% of their decisions in 5-10 seconds and you are taking 30 seconds every time, then in comparison to the rest of the table, your time to act is extremely excessive. The the generally accepted policy is to allow a reasonable amount of time to act.
