Does anybody know a site that lists casinos or cardrooms that hold wsop Main Event satellites? Our local casino, Turtle Creek near Traverse City, Michigan, always held them for a $350 total buy-in, but they don't have one scheduled this year. Can't find any others in Michigan. Odawa and Island (Harris), you pretty much have to be a local and win a seat in a weekly super-satellite. No direct buy-ins. Windsor, canada has one, but I called and they said they rarely have enough players to fund a full ticket.

So, please:
1. Is there a comprehensive list of WSOP Main Event satellites somewhere? I seek a buy-in of $350 or less for MTT.
2. Any leads to a room in Michigan or close-by in the Midwest or Canada that reliably rewards a ticket?
3. What is the satellite or super-satellite situation like in Vegas? Do they have Main Event satellites frequently? Site for info?
4. If relegated to online, do Carbon and Bovada award WSOP main event tickets?

For several years, our little group has awarded several $350 seats to the WSOP satellite at Turtle Creek. We've already awarded four this year, and the absence of the satellite throws a wrench in our plans.

Thanks for any help.

The live satellite scene in vegas during the WSOP is usually pretty good. They have single tables constantly going with buy ins between $100-$500, winner take all (though two person chops are common). They award $500 lammers to be used for tourney buy ins for whatever you want. I usually play the $170 buy in which awards 3 $500 lamars, but I overheard one $500 table where everyone did a last longer for another $500, and everyone agreed, so the winner took away $10,000 total including the lammers.

What is a lammer?

To my relief, I just found out that Turtle Creek near Traverse City is again planning on WSOP satellites this year. Second Saturday of April, May and June. Come on up and play? $350. The only others I know of in Michigan are Northville Downs, with a $250 buy-in. The casino in Windsor, Ontario has one every month, but they told me they seldom get enough to pay for a full ticket. Petoskey (Odawa) and Harris have WSOP tourneys, but you can't buy in to them; you have to be local enough to win a seat in their weekly series.

Basically in this situation a lammer is a voucher worth $500 towards a buy in

You could play 2 sats for your $350 at the WSOP. Or, you could go into the live section and win enough money to buy into sats. It would be possible to play in a bracelet event with an investment of $0.

According to the Turtle Creek website they are running WSOP Satellites every Friday with a $40 buy in to win a seat into their Super Satellite. They will be running 3 WSOP Super Satellites April 12, May 10 and June 14 with a $330 Buy-in.

well, you can just go to the RIO and play their satellites. They have single tables going constantly 24/7 and they have lots of mega satellites....usually every night.

If you mean the satellites at wsop it is probably representative of the field for whatever event the satellite is for, maybe skewed slightly toward the bottom of the field (in other words bottom 80% of field might play these). That's just a guess. If you're not a STT expert, probably better to just buy straight in or play the mega

At wsop many of the single table players love to do these last longer bets... Sometimes the whole table does a last longer for the same price as the tourney. They love the fact that there's no vig on this bet. While I understand the desire to avoid the house rake, I don't really get this trend. So basically first place ends up with a huge payday compared to 2nd place. (If there is 2nd place). It's like a rich get richer system whereby you're just essentially playing for higher stakes.

First of all, satellites at the WSOP are not aimed at any specific event. The object is to win lammers for a specific buy in level. I deal these whenever I can, but off the top of my head I can't remember the specific buy ins. For around $175 you win 2 $500 lammers and about $65 in cash. That allows you to buy into a $1000 bracelet event, another sat or any of the 3X daily deep stack tournaments. You can't cash in the lammers, but you can sell them at the line to buy into the events to other players. The bigger the buy in the bigger event you can get into. There are several players that play only sats.
You won't see many of the pros playing sats, but I think it is unfair to say that only the bottom players (whoever they are) play sats. Why pay $1500 to enter a bracelet event when you can get in for $235?

The last longer bets are a fact of life and they happen at every sat I have dealt for the past 3 years. These bets don't affect the game and are optional. Dealers have nothing to do with these bets and I just ignore them. I will say that I kinda like them because they sometimes mean a bigger tip.
Last year towards the end of the tournament I saw 2 flip-em (showdown in home games) games while I was dealing at the next table. They bought in for the regular amount ($235?). The players cards were dealt face up, then the flop, turn and river was dealt. The winner took it all after this one hand. Some players have more money than sense but they had a lot of fun.

If I could play in a bracelet event I would sat my way in rather than pay the full price to buy in. What I would do is get in a 1-3 or 2-5 no-limit game in the live section and win my entry fee into a sat to try and play in a bracelet event for free.
Hope to see you at this years WSOP.

I wish there was some around here too (upstate NY)

But as someone said earlier, if you have a bovada account, they always run them and announced again this year they will be again.

I want to say its a 325 or 450? with 4 seats gtd.

I didn't say only the bottom players play satellites, I said it was probably skewed toward the bottom 80% (in other words not many players from the top 20%. Which is roughly the same thing as saying not many pros play them)

I am not disparaging the satellites or satellite players at all, I play them myself. I am suggesting if a person is not a single table expert they may do better playing the mega satellites, or just buying straight in. To do well in Single table satellites your short handed end game and heads up game must be particularly strong, otherwise you could easily spend $1,500 on satellites and only get 1 or 2 lammers.

Thanks for dealing the wsop! It's so much fun, hope to see you at the satellite tables!! :)
