For anyone who is unaware of it, UB is currently running freeroll qualifying tournaments for packages to be awarded to the September WPT event in Aruba. Daily freeroll qualifiers are drawing fields of around 2500 players, 50 of whom win seats in the weekly Aruba Satellites held on Sunday afternoons. The top 100 places in the Sunday tourney win a seat in the monthly tourney, where the grand prize is airfare & hotel for 2 to Aruba, plus the $5200 buy-in to the 2005 Ultimate Poker NLHE Championship. Pretty cool that UB is opening the door to freeroll players to get a crack at the big time. Altogether, UB is awarding 400 WPT Aruba packages to its winners.

That's cool. I think I'll check it out.

Gees the amount of time that will take to get in I could have won enough money for the buy in playing on cash tables ;]

Good luck to anyone attempting it though!

Moot point now, dook. UB cancelled the freerolls for Aruba two weeks after they started. 200 lucky qualifiers who got in under the wire will sit down on May 6th for a shot at the Aruba package. Good luck to them. Bullocks to UB for closing the freerolls, the cheap wankers!

and they just did the same thing with the TV tourney freeroll promo. canceled barely a week or so into it, so you can just buy into the $5 sats.
this is becoming like a nasty little habit of UB's lately...me no likey. :(

I shot them an email on this very subject yesterday, pointing out that they have twice in the last three months launched a major promotion with the inclusion of freeroll tournaments only to drop the freerolls shortly thereafter.

When it happens once, you chalk it up to unforeseen developments. But twice in a row smacks of the old "bait & switch". Shady marketing not worthy of a major site like Ultimate Bet. Definitely not cool.
