Why Can't I connect to pokerstars? I opened poker tracker and closed it and I can't log on pokerstars. I just downloaded pokerstars and yesterday it connected but sometimes it does/doesn't. Really skeptical on putting some of my FT bankroll on a client that doesn't even connect properly. It will connect some time and other times it will say connecting. I took down firewall is it my router?

Update in 2018:

These types of issues are often a result of a problem with your Internet Service Provider. If you are having a problem connecting with PokerStars - and other players are not having issues it is a good idea to start there to figure out what the problem is.

If you rule out all other possibilities you could always contact PokerStars support to see if they can assist you with getting back on the site. Overall their customer service is very good and they should be able to help you figure it out.

You can also send me a private message and I will see if I can help you figure out if it is an issue that is specific to you or if other members are experiencing the same problems. - dakota-xx

7AM EST yesterday.

Mail support. It might be a router/firewall issue or something, but Stars support is better qualified to give you an answer than we are.

where are you from cougar? if you use a router for your connection that is sure not the problem... it can give a bit of lagging but only a few seconds .. or may be you can get disconnected but after it must reconnect.... prolly is your firewall or the firewall of your security suite if you have one on your pc... if you have norton and you installed the client after norton try to disable real time protection in your antivirus or security suite and see how its goin

Try right clicking on your PS icon then click to run PS as administrator and see if that works. If not, check your firewall settings. After that, not sure so I would definitely send an email to PS support.

It will connect some time and other times it will say connecting.

This is an intermittent problem which IMHO rules out the firewall, and router as culprits. And, although it's always a good thing to try, it rules out running as an adminisitrator as a solution.

It sounds to me like there might be an issue with your Internet service provider blocking or limiting access. They will do that sometimes to limit traffic or preserve bandwidth.

If you know someone else with the same service provider and a computer, you might try to see if they can install and connect to PS with more success than you are having. You need to find a way to point to or eliminate your computer as the problem.

As I am writing this another thought occurs to me. Some viruses change communication settings as a form of self defense to make it difficult to download antivirus or other software to remove them. I had a really nasty one a year or so ago that hard coded some funky IP address in my DNS configuration. It may be that your computer is infected with such a virus. No matter how good your antivirus is, it's never 100% effective.

This happened to me, and I had to call the service provider. They seem to have stopped doing it now, and I have had problem free connectivity for some months now.

The service provider (British Telecom), had implemented the limiting of specific users' badwidth whose usage was far higher than average.... probably as a means to deter piracy.

I am an avid gamer, that's why I was probably flagged.

I go the same problem. But i found why quickly. I didn't played the internet in time so there is a software that blocks my connection outside from time to time making me press a button on Iexplorer after i read a message like "u have to pay for internet connection in 5 days or u will be diconnected ... bla bla bla". They want to be surre that i read the message.
I think u a problem like this. From one reason or another some of your ports are stopped by the provider.
