1. Where do you think the softest competition is for US players?
--This would be at No Limit .10/.25 and .25/.50. Ooh I miss partypoker...
--Preferably medium to large poker rooms. More than 6,000 players at peak times.

CDP is not open to Americans, Stefan.

Absolute or bodog, I should think. Maybe Wingows, but the traffic there is a bit thin.

The more players, the worse it gets. Look at poker site Scout and see where the most cash players are playing. I would think Stars and FTP.

True, but PKR is also not open to Americans. :)

Full tilt is crazy loose

What games exactly are you playing at FT, Lucky. Ring, SNG ?? Full Table, 6 max ??

Reason I ask is, I have been playing some at FT lately, and it seems boringly tight to me, a lot of players with VPIP less than 20%, all waiting for the nuts.

So far most poker sites have very soft competition in the lower and micro limits, by far the softest Ive seen is partypoker, thats also the site where I suffered the worst and most heartbreaking suckouts, but profitable nevertheless. But like someone said, since the US ban there have been less soft players on. What a pity :p

First, PaddyPowerPoker is now part of the IPoker Network which does not allow US players.

Second, I am a UK player but have actually found that sites who accept US players to be tougher! However, from what I have read and experienced myself, it seems that good players gravitate towards Full Tilt, poker stars and Ultimate Bet.

This suggests that you should head towards Bodog or Absolute Poker for the soft competition.

*You can ignore the next bit but for my own experience of these sites see below*

With Poker Stars, I deposited $100, got overconfident and then lost it fast on high limits. I then deposited another $100, got it up to about $150, dropped to around $120 - and then got frustrated and tilted it all away in 30 minutes on the $5/$10 tables. (bankroll Management was not something I took seriously then.)

With Ultimate Bet, I deposited $400 solely to build up a bankroll through their bonus system (which is one of the few that don't expire within 1-3 months or so.) After 3-4 months OF A HARD SLOG on the low-limit tables I had got up to $500. (That's $100 profit after a slow grind through the low-limit tables.) With about $290 still to work off I decided I'd had enough and so got out of dodge and cashed out. In other words I found UB to be very tight indeed.

Absolute Poker was a breeze when their sign-up bonus system gave you dollars when you didn't require to see the flop. Got my $200 deposit right up to $400 fast. As soon as they changed their conditions I kinda got resentful and played badly - and this brought my bankroll back down to $200 before I cashed it out.

If I was to go back, I'd sign up with Absolute for the softness of competition though.

You could try topical but im not sure if they still allow US players. I started playing their free rolls recently and I've already won like 5. The problem is that the traffic at that site is very low.

Another good site for easy competition is carbon poker, i find that to be the second easiest competition on the web.

The problem with soft competition is that many times the fish will suck out. I can win at Absolute, but my profit isn't as good as the Prima Sites. Maybe it is me and how I play. I also don't like that you can not make the tables smaller. Playing one table at a time gets a little old. I think FT is a bit tight. I have never deposited at UB or Poker Stars. I would play Prima or Poker4Ever.

EDIT: sorry, just read that you wanted .10/.25 and .25/.50 limits ring games, not tournaments. I have read a few times that the ring game play is not good at bodog, but I never do good in rings, so I stay away from them

I think that pretty much anywhere you go, you are going to see good players, bad players, and everything in between. You just have to recognize who is who. I play at bodog, mostly 5 and 10 dollar sit n gos and every tournament is different. Sometimes you will get tons of loose cannons and 5 people will be out within 15 minutes, other times you will get very tight players and no one will go out for 45 minutes or even longer. You just have to adjust your play in these types of situations and you will do fine.

If you really want to know the competition though, I'd say it is not that great. When I sit down I feel like I am better than atleast 3/4 of pretty much any table

maybe here

Try Dream Poker, they have great evening traffic, huge freerolls and....I have placed in the money playing 7 Stud MTTs, 5 out of the 7 times Ive entered. They have a good selection of ring games going at most any time. I have been able to consistently build my bank roll at the stakes you asked about.
Soft competition can be found about anywhere. I usually open several tables and watch for awhile before selecting a couple to sit down and play at. Best of Luck!
