For me the easiest way to make $ on full tilt poker is playing $5.50 HORSE Sit N Go s. I find that the competition is easy and if you play tight you can easily make the money if not 1st every time.

Also, I find that the lower buy-in tournaments are easy to cash in due to the recklessness of the majority of the players.

Thoughts on low buy in Sit N Go tournaments ( 1 Table )
Thoughts on low buy in tournaments ( Ex. The Ferguson )
Also, list the site you are referring to. pokerstars and FTP are a lot different.

Where/how do you build your bankroll?

I think SNG are ideal for bankroll building, you can be a little less conservative with your bankroll management. At low levels, play tight, bet your big hands, don't slow play.

There is a nice two page article in Inside Poker this month about how to boost your bankroll

If at all possible you should avoid $5+50 SnGs as the 20% for the house is hard to beat.

$10+1 with 10% for the for the house is a lot easier to stay ahead of over a decent sample. I appreciate not everyone has the roll for it but it's an important consideration.

 Isn't .50 10% of $5 ?

O nuts. I'm at home with a temperature at the moment as my defense. I was thinking of the probably now defunct $5+1 SnGs which doesn't excuse the shocking maths.

I'll get my coat.

No biggie, didn't mean to put you on the spot like that, just confused me a bit :)

Back on-topic, my best and most steady profits have come from cash games.

Trust me, it is not easy to make the money, let alone get 1st every time. Im guessing you have played a very small sample size, b/c a very good ROI is 20%, meaning that you would make about $1.10 profit for every tourney you played, if you are playing the 5.50 S&Gs.

S&Gs are a great way to build your bankroll with little risk (as long as you arent putting too much of your bankroll into each S&G) b/c you can only lose a set amount. In a cash game you could go on a big downswing and lose quite a lot of $$$$$.

Unfortunately I build my bankroll by depositing more money. :)

Generally I win enough at live tables to support my MTT habit. It hasn't been going so well lately though. This is generally on UB.

Do you mean my $5.50, 9 person SnG 6 game sample of 3,2,3,1,9 (tired),1 is not a big enough sample? I can't count on 132% ROI? Darn, back to the drawing board!:D

I've managed to build my BR from $50 to over $200 by playing mostly SNGs and trying to follow strict, but simple BR management-30x buy-in (including rake) for SnGs, 50x for MTTs, and 5% (I buy in) of my BR for cash games.

I started of playing $2 + .25 (turbo) SnGs and then moved onto $5 + .5 SNGs. I disiplined enough not to jump up a level when Im not ready and do drop down if I have to.

Some of the things I've done that have really improved my game are:

-I dont multitable as much. I usually play 1 game at a time, but at most I'll only play 2 at a time.

-I pay more attention to the table(s) and its players now. I did before, but not much. Now, I take notes and I watch everything that goes on.

-I found and fixed leaks in my game: C-betting to often, pot stealing to often, calling river value bets to often, etc.

-Knowing my strengths online. I do far better playing in SnGs than I do playing in cash games and MTTs. Even though they're 3 different games all together, with different strategies. I play more SnGs than I do cash games/MTTs, I play more cash games than I do MTTs, and I play cash games the least. I try to improve my game by playing in each one when I can (especially MTTs), but as for building my BR I prefer to play SnGs.
