Pokerstars is considered the best, good support, soft games
Fulltiltpoker would be considered second best, good game, horrible support, rakeback.
Why all the useless posts... Sorry to call you out but before this post you put I do not play online poker... why waste your keystrokes putting that in? C'mon and keep it real.
FYI and you can look this up, Full Tilt and PokerStars are run under the same gaming commissioner, yet two totally independent networks. (PokerStars is based in the Aisle of Man and Full Tilt in Dublin.)
Pokerstars I would say is 9/10, the downfall being IMHO their support. They DO NOT COMMUNICATE with one another (that is support to verifications and security) one day you get an email from support saying ie: "The sky is blue" and a few hours later security will email me back with something so contradictory ie: "No the sky is not blue but indeed pink with polka dots". My main gripe here is that communication is a lackluster... I have heard from other people that support gets back to them in less than an hour... Never the case with me... always 2 + days.
FullTilt I would say is a 9/10. Great solid software, solid server base, yeah fewer people on the network that PokerStars, still games are their every minute. Support has been wonderful for me, I have been able to get on the phone with support which is IMPOSSIBLE TO DO WITH POKERSTARS (THEY WILL NEVER EVER CALL YOU NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU REQUEST A PHONE CALL WHICH IS SUPPOSEDLY "ONE" OF THEIR OPTIONS... NOT THE CASE!) The only thing knocking this down from a 10/10 is the unusual amount of bad beats... grated they use "state of the art number randomization's", but it still seems odd... then again so does PokerStars...
Either way you put it... Your in the US just like me... your in Vegas just like me... if you don't like the online scene just bail and go to the casino's. I play online since my back has L2 and L6 Slip discs and L3 crushed disc so it is very painful not to sit in my office executive chair
IF YOU HAVEN'T SIGNED UP YET... Search the internet for a No Deposit Bonus (basically they give you $50 or $100 free to play, why: to hook you in... and no you cannot just cash out the free money you have to play at least x amounts of raked hands where x = whatever the site
tells you to play through... this is so the Casino get's all their money back in the end in Rake!)
Best of luck to you and hope you enjoy the online scene if you decide to... like I said using a no deposit bonus you can't go wrong... at least you got the feel of it.
My Two Cents and Then Some,
Moe
