Hi everyone, my name's Sarah and I am both new to this board and to playing online. I love poker and I really want to start playing more and the best way to do that, I've heard, is online. There are so many different sites and since I am relatively new to the online poker world I was hoping you could let me know where you all play so I can try different sites. :)

p.s. I know a lot of people are also affiliates with certain sites. I have no problem with that and I would actually love to be able to help you out while I get to play poker, so if you are just message me the details.

Pokerstars is considered the best, good support, soft games
fulltiltpoker would be considered second best, good game, horrible support, rakeback.

I think you should play on FTP because they have the best software. You can see replays of all the hands you watch move by move. UB wasn't that bad before, but they only have one 50 dollar freeroll, and everything else you have to join a group to be in it. Pokerstars has way too many people in their freerolls and it takes 5-6 hours just to get win a tournament to get into another tournament.

Full Tilt imo... best freerolls (CC freeroll especially) and pretty easy to use... not the easiest players to beat online though.

If you are just starting out you might want to consider PS over FTP since they have the smallest of all micro buy-ins for SnG and MTT. Ultimate bet has really tiny Micros too but they take a while to fill up on slow times. If you are going to play ring games then I guess FTP is better just make sure you deposit with a rakeback site. I made the mistake of NOT doing that when I joined.

I don't think the super micros on Pokerstars are really even worth bothering with. Of course it depends upon what you're looking for in a poker site. OP if you'd explain a bit more of what you're looking for, you willl get a better response imo. (ie. looking for a site with freerolls, or looking for a site with alot of traffic on it, one with a large variety of games, one where there's HUGE fields in the tournaments, one where you won't have to wait long for a SNG to start up in the buyin level you're interested in playing, etc. etc. etc.
bluff Mag. rates FulltiltPoker as the #1 software, Pokerstars #2. For tournements Stars is #1, FTP #2.
I personally prefer Fulltilt over Pokerstars on just about everything.

Fulltilt might not be the site to play on for a completely new player as generally speaking the players in the micro buyin levels are stronger players than on most other sites. (some sites have REALLY weak play in the micros).... btw when I'm referring to 'micros', I mean buyins of ~$5 & under (or maybe $10 & unders)....or cash tables of $0.10/0.25 & under.

You can download both sites w/o depositing & check out a couple of playmoney tables (or a freeroll) to see which site you might prefer (as far as the general look/feel of it) but it won't really give you any idea of what the play is like on the site (play in the freerolls doesn't translate over to anything remotely similiar to the buyins ... 'generally speaking').

Another option might be (imo) to deposit on Fulltilt but to also deposit to another site where the play is really weak (ie. bodog, Cake, UB, Titan) - - reason being, I think you'll learn to play better by playing vs. better players & then will be able to use this to help you to win $$'s on the weaker site with the experience gained from playing on Fulltilt.

Why all the useless posts... Sorry to call you out but before this post you put I do not play online poker... why waste your keystrokes putting that in? C'mon and keep it real.

FYI and you can look this up, Full Tilt and PokerStars are run under the same gaming commissioner, yet two totally independent networks. (PokerStars is based in the Aisle of Man and Full Tilt in Dublin.)

Pokerstars I would say is 9/10, the downfall being IMHO their support. They DO NOT COMMUNICATE with one another (that is support to verifications and security) one day you get an email from support saying ie: "The sky is blue" and a few hours later security will email me back with something so contradictory ie: "No the sky is not blue but indeed pink with polka dots". My main gripe here is that communication is a lackluster... I have heard from other people that support gets back to them in less than an hour... Never the case with me... always 2 + days.

FullTilt I would say is a 9/10. Great solid software, solid server base, yeah fewer people on the network that PokerStars, still games are their every minute. Support has been wonderful for me, I have been able to get on the phone with support which is IMPOSSIBLE TO DO WITH POKERSTARS (THEY WILL NEVER EVER CALL YOU NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU REQUEST A PHONE CALL WHICH IS SUPPOSEDLY "ONE" OF THEIR OPTIONS... NOT THE CASE!) The only thing knocking this down from a 10/10 is the unusual amount of bad beats... grated they use "state of the art number randomization's", but it still seems odd... then again so does PokerStars...

Either way you put it... Your in the US just like me... your in Vegas just like me... if you don't like the online scene just bail and go to the casino's. I play online since my back has L2 and L6 Slip discs and L3 crushed disc so it is very painful not to sit in my office executive chair :)

IF YOU HAVEN'T SIGNED UP YET... Search the internet for a No Deposit Bonus (basically they give you $50 or $100 free to play, why: to hook you in... and no you cannot just cash out the free money you have to play at least x amounts of raked hands where x = whatever the site tells you to play through... this is so the Casino get's all their money back in the end in Rake!)

Best of luck to you and hope you enjoy the online scene if you decide to... like I said using a no deposit bonus you can't go wrong... at least you got the feel of it.

My Two Cents and Then Some,
Moe:cool:

I sifted through the logic here and found I still have a different opinion than what has been stated. Why choose one site? I have money on 11 sites, all but one driven by starting with freeroll cash. I have been a regular player on probably 5 of those sites at different times over the years. Depends on what type of game I am focusing on and what sort of bonus / points I am trying to win. You really want to consider setting yourself up on at least 2 sites with different IDs. This allows you to work on different elements of poker (such as ring games, SNG, or MTT, as well as ofther varieties of poker beyond NLHE). Right now my focus is FTP because of Take 2 and Iron Man. But I find UB, PS, Poker Time, and Yoga have all allowed me various opportunities to have fun. I even suggest dabbling with Bodog at times. Try several sites either for free, or for cheap. You will find a site you gravitate towards over time. Good luck!
