Hey all! New to the forum and I hope I'm posting this in the right place. A little background. I'm fairly new to poker ( been playing about 5 months ) and I have tried pretty much every site out there. I deposited $100 on pokerstars when I first started and of course that's gone due to the ins and outs of learning the game. I've tried pretty much every site out there: bodog, Full Tilt, Ultimate Bet, etc. I have a few questions and any advice would be greatly appreciated. 1.) I have set aside $200 to deposit. Would it be better to deposit it on one site or split it and deposit on two? 2.) I've tried Full Tilt on the play tables. I realize that play money is not a good indicator of real money play, but after watching some of the lower stakes it still looks like too many people move all in with paint and a weak kicker. Is Full Tilt really all it's cracked up to be? 3.) I do play a more conservative style basing my starting hands on my position and the tendancies of the players at the table. Are there certain sites that this style plays better than others on? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Before you decide, do you play cash games, MTTs or sit and gos?

Fulltilt and Pokerstars are my 2 favorites and I don't really have a preference between them.

I guess it depends on what you play and what stakes you want to play at. Read some of the bankroll management threads here before you decide. You might want it all on one site - but I prefer to have some at both.

well i would before anything look for the sites with good bonuses
then i look at the quality of play
FTP has a good 100% bonus as long as u earn enough frequent player points
and bodog has also just come out with a 110% bonus where u collect 10% of ur deposit instantly and if u earn enough points u can clear the other 100%
those are 2 really good sites with really good bonus so i suggest u deposit there if ur looking for some bang for ur buck

Thanks for the replies so far! I apologize for not providing more info in my original post. I primarily play cash games but have started playing more tournaments mainly freerolls and SNG's. As far as stakes go, I don't want to bite off more than my bankroll will allow, but I don't want to paly at stakes so small that proper raises don't get respect. That was one of the things that frustrated me the first time I deposited to a site. I was playing really small stakes and people would chase and suck out. But I've learned that's just the nature of the beast in micro limits. I have read several of the BR mgmt. threads and they are very helpful. If I were to put $100 on 2 different sites, what stakes should I be playing? Thanks again for all the feedback!

With $100 you should be playing no higher than $0.01/$0.02 no limit, $0.10/$0.20 limit or $1 tournaments. (Raises never get the proper respect IMHO.) Download the sites and play play money and freerolls to get the feel of how it suits you. Be sure to read the rules on depositing before you do to be sure you get the best bonus. Check out this - Support Cardschat.com - Links to Online Poker Sites

Play money is mainly for getting used to a site and fun. Many times the tactics and/or strategy in play money bears no relationship to real poker.

Me personally, I feel like Bodog just doesn't have the number of players and options that FT and PS does. However, they have "beginner" SnG's and what not, where it pays out top 5 instead of just top 3. Lower payouts, but a good way to start out/learn. Between FT and PS, I like the layout and UI that FT uses, but PS being the big dog out there, has WAY more variety and options to the player. Really you just have to try all 3 out, figure out which one you like the most. If you get annoyed with Bodog of FT's interface after using it for 2 hrs or so, it's probably a good idea not to deposit on there. I'm sure there's plenty more good advice you'll get from other members on here though. Good Luck!

I've only seen the .01/.02 games on Ultimate Bet (although I haven't played on Bodog) of the main ones mentioned.

I'm also hunting for some info.

Are there any posts here that lay out the comparisons between bonus/rake/stakes and ease of deposit/withdrawals? I have been collecting info but I don't know which sites are best in terms of minimums to take out and fees associated with the echeck services. I'd like to keep costs to a minimum.

And, slgalt, where are you from? That makes a difference in deposit methods, where you can play, etc.

I'm in the US. I will most likely be playing No Limit, tourneys and small stakes cash games. I love to play stud and razz (and crazy pineapple!), but not up to playing for money. I have cashed in freerolls on several sites, so I'm trying to dig deeper for info to figure out what's best. I currently like the software on FullTilt for tourneys, and I like the micro cash stakes on UB, but there's a rake on any pot over .10 or .20 which makes the rake percentage quite high.

I am hoping that someone could link to a good post or other site that has these comparisons laid out. I remember seeing a site that ranked the rakes. Obviously the bonus is nice, but in the long term, I assume rakes are key.
