Hi all.

For some of you, I`m sure this could go into the brags section, I don`t know :)

I would love to hear about what level you are at with your poker - the games you play, the limits (cash), who plays the game as a hobby, who plays it as a profession, etc - just about anything.

I`ll start...

I`ve been playing poker for about 18 months - I was actually introduced to it by my, at the time, 14 year old son!!!

I am at a stage where I play the game seriously, as I do with anything - I`m very competative!!! However, it is more of a hobby than a money making venture.

I have made some withdrawals, which is very nice - I have actually been able to play for 18 months on the back of the origional £200/ $400 - very nice.

My bankroll I play with at the moment is about $1,000 spread out between Pstars, Laddies and Party.

I have reached a time in poker where I feel I have a much better understanding of the game. I feel more confident when raising, more confident in making continuation bets, happy to push all in, etc.

2 areas I feel I am comming to terms with better, but I`m still not over it completly, is bad beats and patience.

I play NL holdem in the main, but I always seem to do very well playing stud hi or stud hi/lo.

I still struggle with ring games - I think the problem I have here is I don`t know what is a good result for a session (10% up, 50% up, etc) so I find it difficult here as I push probably when I should not.

I am `unusual` when playing SNG`s. I started off a storm playing these games, then got too big for my boots, played at too high a level and then lost it all. I now have dropped back and I can`t seem to recapture my form - I`m a losing SNG player :(

I always do well in MTT. I think if I played more on one site I would be one of the top boys :D - time, however, is an issue.

I play the following limits:-

RIng games - $0.50/1.00 (occassional $1.00/2.00)
SNG - single table - $5 to $20 buy in
MTT - From $3 rebuys to $20 rebuys. I normally max out at $25 buy in MTT.

I feel my poker aim at the moment is to qualify and play in some major events - like all of us I would love to play in and qualify to play the wsop - even if I do go out first hand when I push with AA and get called by AK - they hit there flush

I take my hat off to any pro poker player, but especially the ones that do not have a massive bank roll - it would be easy, IMO, to be Greg Raymer, Joe Hachem, etc, and be a pro poker player with $$$$$mmmm from a big win.

I`m convinced I will win big in a MTT - my biggest win to date is about $4,500, although I have had a variety of other decent wins. By win big I mean $250,000+

Anyway, just felt like sharing that with you all - I for one would love to know more about u all - don`t be shy ;)

I started playing approx 2 years ago. Started off in Ladbrokes where I built up a decent BR, but unfortunately I played in games well over my ability and roll, and consequently busted out. After that I made several small deposits at various sites and made the usual BR errors. I then came across a coouple of Poker forums, this one included and decided I really need to educate myself in several fundamental factors of the game. Probably the most important of these is Bankroll management.

I then made a concerted effort to take the game more seriously. I made a $200 deposit to pokerstars back in April and played in $10 SnG's. Fortunately I hit a good streak of form/variance and haven't looked back since.

For the following 3 months I played SnG's and ascended to the $50 games. Then I decided to change games and take a punt at cash games. I had a pretty decent roll and decided to go straight in at the $100NL games. After a while I realised I needed to start a little lower to build my experience whilst not damaging my roll. I now play $50NL and in a month or so I hope to get back upto the $100NL.

My main aim ist to get to $400NL games preferably within 12 months and also to achieve Supernova status on Stars. I can then re-evaluate my poker goals and hopefully retire form work :D

I started watching WSOP broadcasts back in 2004 and turned to my wife and said, "Maude, I think I could do that!" Not wanting to be a real donk, I invested in a book and acually read it. I searched the web for sites and found several that would let you play free and even give you a few bucks just to sign up with no deposit requirements. You did have to play some number of hands to withdraw, but who wants to withdraw only $5? There was also a minimum withdrawal requirement, don't remember exactly how much. Those sites had $0.02/$0.04 limit games and up, I played them and free ones and built my stake up a bit.

After a while, I had a bankroll of ~$25, and deposit bonuses were beckoning. I looked at the financing available then and chose neteller as my bank. I wired them $100 and used that to deposit into my first site. After satisfying the deposit requirements, I withdrew most and went to the second site; NETeller fees were zero both in and out. I found a reference site where I could get books for signing through them and used that to increase my library as I moved my money around, gaining all the time. My game of choice was limit holdem. I withdrew my original deposit many times over, so everything is now "playing with profit".

Limit Holdem is limited (no pun intended), so I started playing NL, and am still learning. I was moving the bulk of my bankroll out of PokerStars getting ready to deposit into FTP when they decided playing poker was a threat to U.S. ports. My bankroll was tied up with NETeller for about a year and I just got it back in my hands. Also, my time avaliable has gone down a bit, so I have been at a bankroll plateau for a time. I hope this site can help me change that. I am having to learn the sites that are still avaliable to USA players. I guess I am lucky to have gotten the deposit bonuses from a dozen others before they were closed to me.:icon_porc

I have been playing poker for about 6 months. I am 22, and in college. Right now, poker is my job but I do realize that it probably won't become a full time thing. I play live tournaments sometimes and play online a lot. My game of choice is No Limit Holdem. I've never played a different poker game and I don't plan on it. Holdem is what I am sticking to.

I deposited about $400 to begin, and lost it playing ring games. In my opinion, many, if not all of my losses were "bad beats". The level of play was poor, and I tried my hands at tourneys and discovered that my style of play lends itself to tournies more, and the level of play is 1000% that of ring games in my opinion.

Aside from live tourneys, I play on either pokerstars or full tilt. Each month I usually deposit $500 or so and 90% of the time, I am more than comfortably in the black. If the level of play in the lower stakes was acceptable, I don't think I would deposit as much. I play minimum of $10 SNG's, as high as $100. When I feel I have gotten my bankroll up enough to suffice, I withdraw and start over again.

My biggest cash was probably in the Sunday Million a couple of months ago, where I got 7th of about 5500 entrants if I recall, for about $20K.

Seeing as how I've only been playing for a short while compared to most who do this as more than a hobby, I'm happy with my progress but I try to improve all the time. I've read a few books, and plan to read at least 2 more by October.

I've only been playing poker for almost 3 years now and I am nowhere close to where I want to be. I take my poker seriously and to be honest I plan on selling my business in the next couple of years and play poker for the rest of my life. I would do it now if it weren't for the fact that I have two car payments, a house, two motorcycles and other bills that come with life!! Once I can pay all of them off I will be in the position to play poker for a career.

This year I do plan on playing in the WSOP Circuit event at Caesers in Indiana in October and then playing agian in October. If I place in either of the two then I'll use my timeshare in Vegas and play in one of the events there. I would like to cash enough to play in the Main Event.

For now I'm just a player, with dreams to be a pro.

Been playing for almost two years, still a megadonk, play ~$10 SNGs and such, biggest cash in a tournament has only been ~$150. Been reading some books to help my game, hope to go play some $1/2 NL at a casino once I find some time to take a trip.

Been playing online now just over 2 years. After grinding the limit tables, then about a thousand sit and gos, some O8 , ive settled into the NL ring tables and im currently grinding away nicely on NL$100 and hoping to move up, all going according to plan sometime before Christmas. Im still playing a nice few MTTs when i get a few free hours.

My goals is to move up to a level that will suppliment my income to a life changing extent without going pro, im hoping that level will be around nl$400 and once i get there then i think if i can make some nice cash at it then thats where ill stay. (Then again i thought the same thing about nl$100 last year :) )

Wouldnt mind winning the Sunday million at some stage either, and playing a WSOP event of some description.

i've been playing for 8mths, find myself still quite a donk. My timing is bad, unless the cards were good to me, else always seem to get caught when making a move especially in ring games. i've been reading books and articles online, perhaps due to poor command of the english language, there are some concept that i cant seem to understand. One very big leak of my game is the lack of patience when i'm at the tables, i love taking flops and i seem get bored when i have to sit and wait for cards especially in tournaments, sometimes i'm just too aggressive and overplayed my hand, gotta fix this leak.

For now, i'm trying to build a $1000 bankroll from $0. i'm at ard $11, so its a long long way to go. Please wish me luck, cause i hope i'll get there soon, preferably by end of 2007.

I dont know when, but i do hope some time in the future i'll be able to play in any major live/online tournaments paying as little as possible. (all right, i dont mind you calling me cheapo...i just dont like to pay so much $ )

Good luck !

I know people who live off poker and have a side job not to get them bored/burnt-off (one plays in a band and works at a music store, the other sells stuff off e-bay and is a tennis instructor) and they get by quite nicely eigth-tabling the 400nl, so I'm sure you'll get there and the money will be life changing. One of them (they both are roomates) could probably move up to much higher stakes since he's a significant winner at 400max, but he prefers not to: he makes enough money as it is (4 figures pretty much every month on average) without wanting the drama/stree of high stakes.

On my own, br is now at 160$, starting from my initial 70$ deposit in late June, so I'm well on my way to .50/1$ LHE by Christmas once I cash my 50$ bonus. Haven't played more than one 5$ SNG though: still grinding the 3.40 turbos wich I'm very comfo with.

This I'll never understand:
1) Why don't you build a proper br instead of depositing every month? Just withdraw what you need and have a go at somewhat higher stakes than 10$ SNGs (you're underolled for the 100$ ones and variance will bite you if you continue this way)
2) Why is the level of play unacceptable at lower stakes ? Just grind it playing ABC poker and the donks will pay you off. Simple.

I have been playing for about 5 years now, im currently 21 and in school. After going busto a few times I recently deposited 300 on full tilt and decided if I couldnt do anything with that then I would re-evaluate poker and find something new. Well, I am now currently at 650$ and am playing strictly 1/2 limit and a certain 1/2 pot limit game from time to time. I feel I finally grasp the game and have decided this semester I will not work and play poker to make money. I have a comfortable nest egg right now just in case this doesnt work but I find that when playing limit poker a good player will win easily. Variance doesnt hit you hard like it does in NL, granted your pots you win wont be as big, but the ones you lose due to the villains FH being higher will be much less and you will be able to stay at the table and make it back with good poker. I will venture back into NL when my tourney play and br feel good enough but for now I am just trying to learn good MTT strategy because I have yet to make a nice cash in any MTT. I will be moving up to 2/4 limit when I hit 800$ in my br which im hoping will be in 2-3 weeks.

Currently playing .25/.50, not .50/1, wich I'm vastly underolled for. Winrate is in the black: it is still way too early to post stats since I have maybe 10-15 session under my belt single-tabling to get comfo. Maybe in the vincinity of 2-3bb/100 hands, but I'm running pretty good right now (only bad beats have been posted in the BB section).

What Poker Level are you all at...

I've learned and have followed the game of poker since early '03. I've been a part-time dealer for some corporate events and home-games for the past couple of years now. A couple of cool events I've done has been the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame Tournament, a PokerRoom sponsored tournament for a company and a couple of other large charity events.

Right now, I'm playing strictly at B&M Casino playing either 1/2 NL or 5/10 Limit. I like mixing things up now and then. I've been pretty successful playing the limit game lately, especially when betting out, while crossing my fingers hoping that someone doesn't catch their draw on me or vice versa (I try not to chase ridonkulous outs, but I can't resist ones where I have the pot odds to call).

I used to play online at PokerRoom and UltimateBet, where I've had less success than my in-person play. Not sure what to attribute too, except maybe I'm just not playing 'properly' or a sound game. Could also be that I'm playing way too low of a limit where anyone will go for anything.

My BRoll right now is only a few hundred dollars set aside. School's coming up so most of my summer salary has been for tuition and other school stuff.

I would say my level is one who has some potential but still has a lot to learn. I find myself playing pretty well but drifting over the course of a session down into weak-tight. Plus, there's a lot of nuances in the game that I haven't figured out or have become well-versed. For example, I have to take extra time to calculate my percentages and if I'm getting right odds. Sometimes, my math gets off. Another one, is that I can get distracted playing - or become too comfortable and may give out too much information.

I'm not sure yet if I have what it takes to go pro, but I definitely would like to have the knowledge and the game to at least go up against one and hold my own and to possibly go semi-pro and play more on the side when not working (which is essentially to fund my bankroll at the start!)

Good luck to all of you when playing!

Haven't been playing a year yet. Getting serious practice (and paying off old debts) before venturing into the casinos. Practicing BR management with play money. Yes, I'm a geek.

You don't have to know the hand rankings. Just go all in every hand and the site will tell you when you have won. I have seen players like that in the Donk-and-gos. :icon_porc
