...play in one of these, I reckon:

Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series

Saturday 9 February
$180 buy-in NLHE, $6K starting chips, 25-50 starting blinds and 25 minute levels, antes start at level six

Sunday 10 February
$240 buy-in NLHE, $10K starting chips, same starting blinds and 30 minute levels, antes start at level five

I'm leaning towards the $240 event: the extra $60 isn't a big deal, and I think the structure's just a shade better. So, think lucky thoughts for me or something :D

one million dollars!

for the entry fee, i would have to agree that you should go for the Sunday millions. Deep stack is good if you cant get a hand to save your life for over an hour, but i have noticed that it doesnt matter how big the starting stacks are in trnys. Players make their moves and chips get passed, all the while the blinds never get any smaller. EVERY trny is a coin flip, there was a fellow who started HAND # 1, Day 1 of the wsop Main Event with AA and flop came10A10, he was out that first hand, down a 10K seat b/c he flopped the 2nd nuts. 10 10 vs his A A and he had 1 out in the deck.

So go for the big bucks if you are willing to risk the buy-in, if its your day to take down the trny you want the best return possible, in my opinion.

Actually... these were live tournaments - at Crown in Melbourne (same place they hold the Aussie Millions).

So I turned up for the $240 event on Sunday... only to find out it'd already been filled! Bah, damn you poker boom!!!

I've been used to other similar buy-in events like the one at the PokerNews Cup, where they took upwards of 500 players, and kept taking registrations right up until start time: when they physically ran out of seats, they just sat alternates as people busted out.

But this one they'd capped at 400 players - guess it makes sense with the format and all, I just hadn't read that in the fine print.

Guess I'll pre-register online or something next time :p
